A 20GB 3080 is most of the price with no performance gain. A 12GB 3090 would be most of the performance without the price, am hoping those will show up by next spring. While I am also interested in a 3080 Hydrocopper, those won't be stocked until late October and most likely won't even become widely available until the end of the year regardless. NVIDIA is really not doing itself any favors with all these super-soft launches.

Have water, will cool.

Ok going with a 3080FTW3 Ultra.  That's the plan.

That's probably the sweet spot for folding. Doesn't care about all the extra VRAM & just wants those CUDA cores; which the increase from 3080 --> 3090 is minimal.

That and since I game at 1440 I think it would give me all eye candy maxed in all games and good frame rates.

I fired up F@H for the first time in a good long bit. My brand spanking new 3090 FTW3 Ultra is pulling ~ 5.7 million PPD on Project 13426. GPU at 2055MHz (+135 which tops out at 2085MHz when it's cooler), VRAM at 10252MHz (+750), and temp is 65C at 70% fan speed (2100 RPM).

Since I had to set it up again, I am folding on my 10940X at the same time - which might, or might not, affect the 3090's PPD a bit. And I'm in Windows too - apparently Linux folding is a whole lot better than Windows these days!

Edit: 5.9 to 6 million now that I'm past 60% done.
Edit: 6.2 million PPD/39s TPF at 85% now that my CPU folding finished and I removed it after the upload.

Are you running the beta flag?

Congrats on the card!

Congrats on the card!

Thank you! 70 minutes of fighting EVGA's checkout on the 24th got me one.

As to the beta flag - Negative. Any knowledge that I gained has since been brain-dumped as it pertains to folding. Except for the one thing that I can remember - team 111065!

Does the -beta flag enable CUDA on windows folding? I saw a TPF difference in another post, and openCL was way behind.

Yes but I‘m not getting them full time on Linux. When I do my 2060ko does about 1.9>2.0 mil which is +30%. I haven’t run on Win10 in a few weeks.

I am on Linux and my two GPU are 2080ti which does 3.6M PPD openCL/5M CUDA and 2080S 2.7M PPD openCL/3.6M CUDA. Linux gets you quite the uplift and the CUDA gets you even more. I wouldn’t be surprised if the 3090 could do 8.5 to 9 million PPD by itself if that is what you are getting on windows.

Getting 7.2 to 7.5 million PPD right now with the beta flag, Project 13426 core 0x22. I assume this uplift is from CUDA - or my earlier CPU unit was really holding things back.

I smell a huge increase for EVGA year 14 Folding at Home tiers, thanks to you!

That'll be for a lot of the other teams as well. Except for Default. Most CPU folders are in that team.

I still have 4 new 2060's in boxes that are waiting for the server cases sitting on the other side of the border...I will add a 3000 to the farm eventually
Each of my 2 machines with two 2060 ultras is pumping over 3 million ppd and no beta flags.
Still have enough guests to cover our costs..

And those 7+M PPD is with smaller atom count units.
What's the power draw and GPU utilization at those PPDs?
