Hi,

I recently upgraded my monitor to 240hz and want to take advantage of full 240hz. The problem is my 1080 ti is not pulling enough fps as I thought it would. I've been thinking about buying the 2080 ti, but wondering if 1080 ti in sli is better value or set up for my need. Fps is my top priority as I play competitive in PUBG.

1080 ti sli as long as sli is supported in the game. If no sli support then single 2080 ti.

Hmm.. probably going to be a CPU 'bottleneck'  with PUBG at 240hz at 1080p. A single 2080 Ti might get you close to 144hz consistently at 1080p. At 1080p there's only a few percent difference in the FPS between a 1080 TI and a 2080 Ti. Overclocking your processor  along with the fastest memory you can get may get you closer.  I think you should shoot for attaining a min of 144hz. I don't see 240 being a 'competitive' advantage.

Ouch! 2 max frame difference between a 1080/1080ti. Nuts. Must of been a slow 1080ti.

Yeah shoot for 5ghz on all cores on that CPU. You'll want the best aio cooler of good custom water cooling for it.

Yeah, PUBG isn't a twitch shooter. I'd think 1440p @ 144hz would be better than 1080p at about the same FPS.

Indeed, seeing how Graphics cards and display scaling works and all that.
Sometimes using a lower resolution can be the bottleneck, you would not normally think so as people have had issues with 4K and all that but sometimes the lower resolution itself can be the issue.
And toning down to 144hz my work out better anyhow, 240hz really is not that big of a deal really unless you are doing twitch shooters but even they work fine at 144hz.
Besides I would not get a RTX card personally anyhow, its too early and so far the issues faced with them are something to take note of.
See what tweaks you can do before making big leaps.
PC gaming can be a funny thing though, even with the best processor and best GPU you can still run like a tank without optimizing first.

I don't know if PUBG ever got decent SLI support. I know that the SLI scaling used to be real poor (made it pointless) and that the visual artifacts were quite horrendous with SLI enabled. I would make researching whether SLI ever got fixed in PUBG a top priority in your decision.

in games the 240hz chase for most games that its even possible in will be very cpu bound. running my 8086k at 5.1ghz helps for the 144hz chase so id imagine it would help to have a good oc on your cpu. but mines delided so I can easily cool it with even smaller air coolers as I dont really care for water cooling in my pc

People were able to use sli before 1.0 patch came last december, its still working but need a lot of tweaking. Anyhow, it would be great if they support sli in the future.

Even before they purposely disabled SLI support, it didn't really work.  The SLI scaling was terrible and their was a lot of issues with flickering objects -- especially the main/home menu interface.  It made using SLI pointless.  That's really old news.  So, they never fixed it and re-enabled SLI support?
