Hi there!

Does the adjacent pcie slot (3rd slot) usable with the 2.2 slot RTX 3070 XC3 Ultra?

Coming soon, an update with my first-ever vertically mounted GPU - something I once upon a time said I'd never do because it's "pointless" - that was before I saw the glory that is the bare copper goodness of a 3090 Kingpin... I mean, who wouldn't want to at least occasionally just stare at that & go "wow that's hot":

Quick pic of build without plumbing and a few cables to be tucked away.  I would have finished; but couldn't find my silicone insert for bending - have frosted corsair acrylic for tubing.

Booted her up dry just to make sure she'd post and she did - only had her on for 20 seconds.

Will post updated pic when she's hydrated.  Also have a 3090FTW3 build I'm working on now; but that EK block still hasn't arrived.

Nice monoblock setup.  If I wasn't going to go the 11900K/Z590 route, I'd be getting one of those for my Z390 - EK makes one that's quite nice:

I'm looking forward to having all that Copper staring at me once I have the Kingpin vertically mounted with an eVGZ Z590 Dark - only a few months away, hopefully... we'll see how hard it is to get ahold of an 11900K.

That is a nice looking block. I forget why I went with Bitspower for the monoblock; I think I just preferred the way it looked I think.

Good luck with your build!

I did a thing... the vertical mounting bracket for my case was not compatible with the riser cable... so the only thing holding the card (which is actually fairly rigid, surprisingly) is the slot-brackets.
Bout to fire up a test followed by some gaming & see how it goes, riser cable is only 220mm so I'm assuming the performance loss will be basically nothing since this cable came recommended from several forum members that use it.
Installed lil' heatsinks on the back of the card before putting it vertical, got a fan back there blowing air over them, the fan you can see behind it in the pic is actually close to the motherboard blowing air over the M.2 drive areas.

Testin' some new heatsinkarinos:

If they work anywhere near as well as the originals I had on there, this should be a hoot in terms of temperature reductions:

That is sexy for SURE. Hey did you loose any performance on the extender? I have two extenders and one that was quite long, I lost huge performance on. I went back to the short one, but eventually I went back to just right in the motherboard. (Never really tested if I had performance loss on the short one)

Good luck with the new fins!

As far as I could tell, the Phanteks 220mm riser cable I ended up getting did not meaningfully effect my performance in any way.

I've been back to the card being directly in the slot for a few days now because of issues with my benchmark scores... which I've traced back to probably being the result of a Windows update AKA I'm boned on trying to hit 15.4k again.  I tried a FRESH Windows install on a solo drive with no other drives installed, got just Windows, the base drivers needed, and NVidia's 461.40s, then 3DMark installed, and got a ridiculously low stock score - Previously I got as high as 13.9k, almost 14k, at stock GPU with 5GHz CPU...  now I'm lucky to get more than 13.6k at stock GPU with 5GHz CPU.

Eventually I might go back to vertical mounting, it's going to depend on whether or not I can figure out how to mount the fan on the back of the card with it vertically mounted.

I had a problem too just like yours the other day, I hit 15,1 - 15,2 easy, then out of no where I couldn't hit 13,9. I didn't change anything, I eventually just started getting 15's again. I want to push farther but I'm redoing the loop tomorrow, so I think then I will. Also adding my CPU to the loop, which might let me push that farther and push out a few more grapes. I'm tempted to just have a Hard drive for benchmarking, minimal apps installed.
