Well, I can't say for certain, but I think you may have identified your real culprit--the extension. If it was the sourcing wire that was also burnt, that would make sense to blame the controller. But to have something downstream of your controller burnt, that says something else entirely. I think that you unintentionally exceeded the capacity of your extension wire. You see, I suspect the failure sequence went something like this: 1. Exceeded capacity of the extension, slightly (~0.5 Amps). 2. The cable extension overheated and melted, producing a short. 3. The short overtaxed the FET on your controller and ruined the controller. Since the Phobya extension is ruined, the gauge is very important in verifying this. Can you open the sleeving slightly and read the very fine print on the cable length? What was the precise load on this extension? How many fans and what type?

Okay, some good news,Lamptron are sending me a FC5 V2 to replace my controllers. I have used the FC5 V2 before and found it very capable,i have one running a D5 and its done that for a long time now so im not forseeing any issues. Thanks to Robert and Luciel for getting stuck in and going the extra mile for me,i really do appreciate it. So,now i can concentrate on finishing my rig off and getting ready for i47.
They are going to come back to me with a diagnosis of the controller which will be nice as its not known what caused it and the guys from Lamptron believe it could be a cabling issue....I hope its not that,I will feel a bit stupid for blaming Lamptron and I dont fancy trying to get Phobya to sort anything TBH from what i have seen.
So PROPS to Lamptron for going out of their way to get me back on track in such short notice, couldnt ask for more.

It looks like the colored lights kinda wash out your build (make it all the same color). I would personally stick to some white Led's. On another note, I just received my FC5 controller today. Hopefully it is more quality than your FC6's were.

Great build, I'm amazed!.. I have a similar one, but a different case. But i am going to buy the LD v8. I have a couple of questions, did you get the Dual PSU extender with the case or did you buy it separately (can't find any info about this on his site)? And how long does the 24-pin have to be ? And did the other cables reach ok? I also have the AX1200. And 2x xspc 480. I'll buy a third one. And I can't understand how your loop works, even though I see the photos I can't get my head around it. Could you PM me the loop specifics ? EDIT: What's the name of the black fittings you have on the radiators? Thanks in advance Best Regards Fasadglas

Wow, what an absolute amazing job. I love trying new things with my computers & am always trying to make them cleaner & more exciting. You really take that to a whole new level. Sadly i lack the patience to attempt something of that magnitude of awesomeness. Absolutely amazing.

This is all done in my normal OS,no cutdowns... Stock GPU's,OC'd X5650s Still got a lot more in the tank too..... 6th place for now.... Seems i bumped Jacob down too, sorry man 12th place.... I cant get 3DM 11 to use more than 50% across the 3 cards,baffling..... Much better than that Opteron nonsense that Gold Leader loves so much.

Looks great. According to CPU-z your running at 3.8Ghz. Is that as high as you can get? Or just as high as you've tried to get?

Its work in progress,i like to run a OC for a while before reaching for the next level. These chips have been run at 4.3 but stabilty was a question and i only gained 1 point on Cinebench so it wasnt a big deal to lose that. SR-2's are tricky to OC reliably.

I understand. I had a SR-2 that I built last year and then sold. It wasnt anywhere near as pretty of abuild as yours though. And I understand the madness of overclocking them. But that's also part of the fun.
