Well, after finishing up the Stingray/Impact Prodigy build, I took it home and set it up.  While doing that, my youngest daughter was watching me.  She asked me what I was going to do with the other computer that I was using.  I told her, I don't know and what should I do with it?  She said I don't know as well and walked away.  I didn't want to tell her because this is going to be a surprise to her.  Since my oldest daughter has a nice computer that I built last year, I thought it is time for my youngest to have a computer themed on what she likes.  So I decided to take my Falcon Northwest and theme it around Rainbow Dash from My Little Pony.  The Rainbow Dash part that you will see will actually be a vinyl printout because later on I am sure she will out grow My Little Pony and I would hate to have a nice Falcon Northwest case like this stuck with My Little Pony on it.  This is a case I plan on keeping for a long time.  Moving on, My plan is to strip the components out of it and start by getting the case powder coated.  The color I am looking at (Still undecided) is a white pearlescent.  The pearl will be along a rainbow color so when the light hits it, it will give a rainbow look to it.  More of a blue reflecting though.  The granite base will be the original color though because it looks really nice as it is. Here is the color I have found so far.  It is a Blue Micro Pearl Top Coat that would go over a white base.

After the powder coating is done, I will then have a graphic with Rainbow Dash in it that will go over it but not completely cover the powder coating.  Still in the design phase and looking to maybe doing a translucent look to the graphic to add more depth to the look.  On the interior, I think I will be replacing the power supply with a modular and go with sleeving to match the theme.  When you remove the side panel, the back of the graphics card is showing, so I will probably get a custom backplate for the card maybe with a Rainbow dash look to it or something.  There is also a light bar in the front were the Falcon logo lights up, will be modifying that slightly to make it match the color theme.  I will be also adding RGB light to the interior at the top beside the graphics card so that the top of the case will be illuminated at the top out of the grill for a cool effect.

First thing is first.  Time to do a Tiki Teardown!

Sad thing is, the ACX cooler will have to go because one of the fans just barely rubs a piece in the case that I cannot remove.  So I will have to go with a blower style cooler.  I do have a GTX 660 with a blower and that could be the one I use.  Don't know yet but do know that I cannot use the ACX in this build.

I should have the guys at Falcon a little worried by now.  Hehe!!

Here is the case completely stripped of the components.  Decided to put the granite back on until it gets sent off to powder coating.

Well that is it for now, just wanted to get a build log started.  Will update during my great adventure into the wonderful world of My Little Pony.  I am not a fan of my little pony but I am my daughters greatest fan so this build is very important to me.

Man I really like the Tiki. I'm sure it will be a great build too like the rest of the ones you make and I also think it is great that you are going to be making it My Little Pony based for your daughter. Also, I bet all the bronies that are on this forum are gonna really like it too!

Thanks guys!  Look forward to getting this thing moving.  Getting some custom powder coating samples coming from Prismatic Powders this week.  I called them telling them what I am looking for in a color and now they are mixing up a few samples to get what I am looking for.  Great company for helping the small business man out.

I got started with the graphic for the side of the case a couple days ago and found something on the Internet that I can use as a base.  I am currently tracing over some of it and then I am adding my touches to it to go along with my theme.  I only have a few layers of the graphic done because I am trying to squeeze this in between other things that need to be done.  Take a look at the graphic and see if you can find the interesting touch that I added to it.  Hint:  It's not to hard but EVGA uses this logo a lot!!

Id like to see a Gold/Yellow/Amber LED behind the Falcon of the front of the case?

BTW, where did ya hide the Flux Capacitor in that tiny little case?

Edit, what PSU ya going  with?

Edit2, If your in the mood for some sarcasm Drex?  "You must have a very Happy Wife, being this comfortable with you girly side, hence the My Little Rainbow Pony!"  But no different from my "Hulk Smash!"  Its funny how ya get closer to the Big 4-0(50+ for some), ya start getting abit more smarter and too comfortable with ur self.............................................................

You are funny Knight!!  I am not getting in touch with my feminine side and that is for sure.  Haha!  Like I said earlier, no fan of My Little Pony just my daughters greatest fan.  :)

Answers:  The PSU I am going with is the Silverstone SFX non-modular 450W.  That is about the only way to go with is the Silverstone PSU when it comes to this build.  You choose between modular and non modular.  Well, yesterday I broke the seal on the PSU to get it ready for sleeving because I didn't want to spend ~$90 to get the modular version.  We will see though.  If I screw something up while sleeving, then I will probably buy the Modular PSU.

I will be getting RGB LEDs for Case lighting as well as the Falcon Illumination.  The case lights and the Falcon logo will be on different channels though.  The Flux Capacitor is in it's secret place as usual.

BTW, the ACX cooling on this rig does not work well because it rubs up against something in the case.  So I decided instead of doing modifications to the card or case, to do a step-up from a 760 ACX to a 770 Blower style cooling.  :)

Oh, here is the sleeving that I chose for this build.

Here is an update on the Graphic.  Still deciding on how I want the Rainbow in the background.  I don't even know for sure if I even want it there.  BTW, I show where I integrated the Nvidia Claw into the graphic.  The darker shaded square is where the Rad is going to be and the upper shaded area is going to be a window.

DeeDee(Dexter's Lab) and Khan are  still my fav bad guys, and girl......

What grade is ur girl in, and dose she do anything creative or maybe science? (If I may ask?)

Edit, Maybe someone can do a Top Gear(BBC) and or a Myth  Buster case/system!!

This computer is going to be for my 7 year old.  I also have a 12 year old as well.  My little one is a Math wiz with a lot of creativity and my older one is very creative as well especially in sculpting.  Here is an update on the graphic.  I decided to get rid of the cloud.  Didn't care for it.  I might add something there but don't want to over do it as well.

100% better. Maybe a bevel on the gray_blue bars/strips? Are  you keeping the case Black or Dark?

Ive played with Photoshop, Illustrator some, and just dont have the patience.  Blender & Some Gimp is about my limits. Im Good with 3D, 2D is just beyond me. But had a few  years of art in high school thats really helped my own art directions.

Adding a gray/blue on the strips are bringing the image to more of a 3D "look".  Which is nice but when it comes to dealing with vinyl at a reasonable price, you have your limits.  I can make it look more 3D with ease but if I do then that limits me to printing then cutting the vinyl other than just cutting.  What I mean by that is when you print on vinyl it's like printing a picture onto a piece of paper, most of the times you can see a little bit of the print lines.  This isn't true if you want to spend more money for a better vinyl process but my wife () told me to keep the budget to a minimum.  Cutting the vinyl is better because you are not printing and the vinyl comes in colors.  The problem is, the more colors, the more vinyl I would have to buy.  I understand where you are going with this Knight but I have my limits on this one.  If I didn't have my limits, you would be probably asking me is that real?  Just joking!  Oh, the color of the case will be a white powder coat with a pearl overcoat.

BTW, the plan for the Rainbow Dash has changed.  My daughter told me that Hello Kitty was her favorite today.  :(  So I have some thinking to do tonight before I start making changes.

I don't think it would matter what design you made. I bet your daughter would love it ,just because her dad made it. That and your a pretty darn good graphic artist. Cool project, I remember you winning the TIKI lucky guy!

I as I mentioned earlier, the idea of this build has changed.  This is now going to be a Hello Kitty themed rig.  So now I am going to name this "Hello Tiki Kitty".    I think that is a decent name for this rig.  Last night and Today during lunch time, I got the Hello Kitty vector Graphic done and ready to go for the vinyl printing.  Still need to do the vectors for the Nvidia claw and GTX Geforce but that shouldn't take to long.  Here are the rendered drawings of the graphics that I am going to be using.  I also edited a couple of Falcon Northwest pictures of the Arctic White Tiki to kind of render what this build should look like.

Haha! That looks good for your project. I was just going to suggest that the Nvidia logo didn't "have" to be green.
I don't know why , but I am wondering if there is a way to lay a vinyl over the fan holes with a design. Of course you would have to have the holes open. A lot more work for sure. I usually don't come up with a lot of ideas like that. It's coming along nicely so far. Some of the hardware is proprietary due to the form factor isn't it?

Thanks NFM!!  I can put the vinyl over the holes, I would just have to trim it out where the holes are.  It wouldn't that hard, just a little time to get it done.  The closest thing to proprietary would be the power supply and the optical drive.  Good thing is, the power supply is a Silverstone and is easy to find.  It is a SFX form factor and there is also a modular version you can get.  The DVD also is easy to find, just a little more expensive because it is a slim slot load drive.  Everything else is pretty much standard.

Silverstone will be releasing a slim gaming itx case hopefully in the near future.  It is the Raven Mini ITX case.

Or you can wait a little while for my slim gaming case.  I currently have one just about ready for prototype.  Just a few more tweaks and it will be off to the fabricator.  :)

I can't show you that much!

Thanks Kubi!  The case still has a few revisions to go.  Once that is done I will then get the prototype fabbed up.  At that point I will share some pics of it.

Got my powder coat samples in the mail over the weekend and was able to pick a color.  Now that the color was picked out, today I had my powder coater order the colors to get the ball rolling.  The color I chose was Cloud White as a base coat and Sparks Gold/Green as an overcoat from Prismatic Powders.  In the picture, the flakes look silver but in person, it looks like a light green and gold flakes that give off kind of a red hue.  Pretty sweet.

Also, I changed the color on the paracord because since the theme is no longer rainbow dash and orange was no longer needed.  I decided to go with a Charcoal Gray.  In the pictures it looks black but it really has a dark gray look to it.  I am trying the Rothco brand this time around.  It looks nice and good quality but I find that I like the Atwood brand better so far IMHO.  I didn't have one issue with the atwood snagging but I have had a couple snags in the Rothco.  Nothing that would hurt the sleeving but after trying atwood, I guess that spoiled me.  Oh, I also did go with the modular version of the Silverstone SFX power supply.  Since I already have that power supply in one of my other rigs, I though it would be good to have a backup.

You ought to try sleeving!  Once you get a hang of it, it gets pretty easy.  I use paracord because it doesn't require heat shrink.  Plus paracord is very inexpensive.  Here is where I got with the sleeving today before my lighter ran out of fluid.  I love the look of this charcoal paracord.

Ya, I just spent some cash on extension cables, at Frozen.

Ill catch that sleeving guide on the stickies.

Im still hoping to do that ITX pfSense build soon, and diff want to sleev that PSU. Im thinking the Sumpermicro Atom ITX, Im looking at has a 24pin, 4pin and a mobo mouted molax. So the sleeving would make for a super clean tight case.......
