Gold Leader B NEGATIVE Gold Leader B NEGATIVE I dont like the short 670 PCB and i dont like nvidia's pricing for the 680. As i understand it,the FTW are binned highly by EVGA,therefore should clock well...perhaps better than vanilla 670's I will be running at 1440p,single monitor so 4gb of VRAM is not needed. In the UK,a 680 4Gb is £490...x3 is £1470...plus waterblocks. A 670 FTW 2Gb is £350...x3 is £1050...plus waterblocks. I saving myself £420,Am i getting £420 less performance? No. I could spend that last £420 on SSD's or even another 670 FTW! understandable then, get a 24" man you'll get more out of the system the HP ZR24w is the one i advise ya these are 24" SIPS panels that have a real monitor reso of 1920 x 1200 x32 with an aspect ratio of 16:10 instead of 16:9 which is aTV aspect ratio lol So none of them low tech low quality LED or TN panels, but high quality S-IPS instead, true colours is the result. Three HP ZR24w's would look nice with this build Unless 30" would be your choice for 2560 x 1600, I still plan on getting a HP or EIZO 30" one day. Only 60hrz? i would want a 120hrz at that resolution, pointless having 3 cards for 60hrz 120 herz is actually 2x 60herz, crappy tech if you'd ask me and the image quality of those TN screens is horrific imo, they give me headaches. No TN or LED screen beats the image quality of any S-IPS, H-IPS or S-PVA panels, forget it. A 60herz S-IPS panel doesn't move, you won't even notice it, as for 3D? Meh I can't see 3D, nice for the marketing I'm like, but not for my eyes, I'm a flat viewer, it gives me major Migraines, kinda a waste of money too. Them 120herz monitors have low resolutions also, all due to the lower aspect ratio they have. That is not what I am seeking, if it's not 16:10 I am not interested in such low tech stuff. When I buy a monitor, it has to be a real monitor and not a TV. Monitors have 16:10 aspect Ratio's TV's have 16:9, lower resolutions and lower quality parts, so it's not what you would expect me from buying even if they have a refresh of 600 herz, If I had the money for a Dual Xeon like this? meh I would of gone for a Quad Socket Opteron board from Supermicro with four 16 Core Opteron 6276 CPU's and a 30" EIZO H-IPS Panel instead. But choices remain personal, I do agree with Chrome M Dragon the case would not be my choice either. Those server board have no OC ability, therefore are no fun and worthless to me. Also, not many HPTX cases that look anywhere near decent, except for the Caselabs offerings which,to me,are way overpriced.

Oh there are ways to OCL any server board, you just have to know how ;) Ask around @ 2CPU.com I'm sure you'll get a direct answer ;) To me the SR-2 like the SR-X lack IPMI 2.0, this would be the ultimate tool to keep an eye on every voltage and rpm in your entire system and you can breach it anywhere int he world via a laptop also, you can reboot it if needed and control it from afar. It also allows you to do Virtual computing on a distance, but yer I understand you seek a wide range of OCL options, then EVGA or ASUS is the way to go for such things. Either way OCL'ing a Supermicro is possible, but still I'd prefer their stability, reliability and high quality of their hardware over anything else, they exceed at that. Each to their own I'm like it would be nice to see your Duallie up and running soon :) What do you plan to use it for? I assume games would be useless since games don't use more than 4 cores. Unless you plan to crunch on it, rather senseless to me, just wasting poor CPU power that way, also but yer each to their own :) I even wonder what you'll get out of this thing, 1Ghz to 1.5Ghz per core extra might do you some good, but in SMP land a Dual 8 core Xeon would rape it even when running 2.4Ghz, so I dunno then, I'd go for 2.4Ghz 8 cores use less power and create less heat, which is again healthier for your hardware. OCLing in SMP land is pretty much useless though, a system with more cores at a lower speed will in most cases beat anything that is highly OCL'ed, since OCL'ing can only make a system more unreliable in the long run. Just my view on that point. But hay this might turn out well for you!, So yeah man, bring it on, once it's done

Specialtech got my order out again in quick time... So im looking now towards the modding and finishing up the loop so i can get this fired up. Some 1.5mm Alu sheet and some 3 mm flouro red acrylic. Im removing the drive bay panels and replacing them with a solid Alu panel and doing some cover work on the HDD/SSD caddies.. Some braided fan cables, braiding cables is a pain at best, but doing fan cables is just frustrating for me,hence i wimped out and bought some. The last fittings for the loop,Koolance lo profile 90's and a VID fitting for the pump tops. Trying to keep the cabling tidy has become a bit of an obsession, these caught my eye... Dont know if i will use it,i really im not keen on that HUGE connector.. These i will be using.. Staggered length SATA III cables, should keep everything tidy behind the board.. Now.....this was my GPU choice,3 670 FTW. I know Coolmiester will be disappointed that its not dual 690...sorry mate! Whats this?? A full size 680 board?? Which means 680 blocks and plates!!! Dont get comfy stock cooler.... So now im waiting on another 2 cards and the blocks...plus some more storage...maybe a light even!....OOOOOOooooooh!

I was in the mood for some painting...] So...i started by masking the already base coated pump covers. a few hits with the RAL 3003 spray from paints4u,good service and a real good match to the existing red in the case,to get this. But wait....i fancy some cutting action...TO THE JIGSAW! I want a nice panel for the res,a bit of cutting and filing and we have... It fits nice! Drilled the holes for the mountings Black etch coat... A lot of spraying later and the panel is ready to be fitted. Res mounts fitted and the panel is screwed to the HDD cage. So...what do you think? Nice? This cam phone just doesnt cut it...i need to get a better camera!! Magoo agrees!!

Small update... Power switches in...These will do for now,i think they are blue so they are not staying...looking for a 'feature' type switch, although these do go with the whole monolithic style to the exterior. The front panel is going to cover all the bays but the FC and the pump controller will becoming thru. Started with a florescent red plexi sheet cut to 20mm oversize, this will be drilled out for LEDs later. This shot tried to capture the glow that the cut edge gives...fail. The Alu cut to size for the front panel.. Mask the front up,dont want any little scratches!! Can you see what it is yet? I know the plexi looks more orange than red but its the edges im more interested in....i want them to really glow! Now i need to brush up on my flame polishing skills!!

Continuing from the plexi/alu cutting yesterday... A coat of etch to the alu and we get... You can see where i need to take more off the plexi....may make a change here and go for a true red instead of fluro. The back of the plexi will be frosted to return more light and i have yet to drill the LED holes... Not bad for a friday morning tho....

Stretch the sleeve out and melt it to the pin,its surprisingly easy. Practice is the key here, try the technique on a old extension or something first.

What lurks beneath Enermax's sleeving and shrink wrap.... So i ditched the clamp, extended the wires and sleeved them. They had no chance of ever reaching the GFX cards and i didnt really want to go the extensions route.. You can see how short the original cables were Some more plug shots... There also appears to be a tentacle beast in residence! I am half expecting some anime hero to leap out with a laser sword! I really need someone with cable sewing skills to teach me some skills, these will not stay in place!!

Leaktest underway,i want get the board fired up this week and get to work stressing the GPUs that are coming this week, they have to pass 24 hrs on furmark before i put blocks on them.. Only one leak from the Vid connector on the pumps, needed brutal tightening to get it watertight, other than that, leak free so far! Having seen what one 24v D5 can do,the second was pure overkill!

I would not do Furmark. It is no longer a recommended program for any sort of stress testing. Drivers detect it and throttle on these new cards. Be better off with 3DMark11 with only GPU Tests on Loop set to Extreme. Furmark can die in a wildfire.
