My laptop's keyboard and power button suddenly became unresponsive while in game. My character was still moving forward as if the W key was still being pressed but no key on the keyboard would work. Once I exited the game, I shut down my computer through the start menu, but the computer went to the troubleshooting menu as if a key was being held down (I believe it's shift) to take it there. Once I clicked shut down on the troubleshooting menu, it seemed that windows did shut down but my computer remained on, the display was off, but the keyboard backlight and the laptop's power status light were still on. I tried to hold down the power button to force shut down it but it did not work, even if I held it for minutes at a time. I could not disassemble the laptop to disconnect the battery, so the only way to shut it off was to let the battery discharge. Once it finally turned on, I was able to turn it on normally with the power button, and the keyboard worked as well (typing this thread on said laptop). Does anyone know what went wrong? Is there a key or key combination that disables the keyboard and or power button?

    Hello,

Please try a CMOS reset, the reset button is located through the pinhole above the power button and can be accessed with a paperclip. If it does not work please submit a support ticket or email support@evga.com so that we can help you further.

    Everything is security.

Thanks for the response guys. Do I do the cmos reset while in windows or in the bios, or while the laptop is off? And if it happens again, is my laptop defective, or is this a problem with all laptops of the same model?

You want to do the cmos clear with the laptop off.

Exactly this issue happened to my SC15 just a minute ago. I was also in game and the keyboard went unresponsive. I connected an external keyboard to shut it off but its stuck on "please wait" windows screen. What do I do? Where is the cmos reset on the SC15 laptop because I don't see it above the power button? Thanks!
