I am just happy that it seems the AIB cards will be released at the same time as the NVIDIA cards this generation. It allows people a choice and hopefully helps with supply and demand faster.

Use an Associates Code & SAVE 5% - 10% on your purchase. Just click on the associates banner to save, or enter the associates code at checkout on your next purchase. If you choose to use my code I want to personally say "Thank You" for using it.

$300 over FE is insane value to be honest. I wouldn't touch that even. Keep in mind BFGPU is twice the size of 3080 and already includes a huge cooler. If you take that $100-150, that makes the FTW3 cooler $400-450.

No thanks, I can build a custom loop with that money almost.

Agreed.  Hopefully FTW3 and/or HydroCopper won't be overpriced, otherwise FE + EKWB will be a logical solution fast....

B&H Photo listed some MSI 3090s for $1901 and $1842!

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=RTX%203090&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ma

That doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies for price of the 3090 FTW3 ...

Seriously though, if the 3090 FTW3 prices are any where near that I'm going with a 3090 FE.

Yup, it's just silly at this point. Spain based component site listed EVGA pricing as well and it doesn't seem like EVGA has MSRP (FE) pricing with this series. That doesn't give me any confidence to be honest.

https://www.pccomponentes.com/buscar/?query=evga+3080

Might as well pull the trigger with FE this time if prices are out of control.

yep if the 3090 ftw3 is $1 over $1799.99 then it's the FE for me not paying over $400 more for fans and lights to run five more frames a second in a game lol nope

Honestly for me, it's $1700. The 2080ti FTW3 Ultra was $150 over the 2080ti FE at launch. There's no reason why the 3090 FTW3 Ultra should be more than $200 over the 3090 FE at launch. And TBH, with the 3090 cooler being so much more innovative than the 2080ti FE cooler, the 3090 FTW3 Ultra shouldn't be more than $100 over the 3090 FE...

If EVGA does a crazy and puts the price of their 3080s and 3090s stupidly high, then they are simply price gouging.

My brother is planning on picking up a 3080 FTW3 Ultra at launch, but if it's more than $100 over the 3080 FE, then he's going to pass.

I really hope EVGA announces the prices soon so we can all make a decision on what to do.

I think based on some leaks from various sites the FTW3U will be more than +100.  My opinion is prices will look like :
FTW3U 850.
FTW3 830
XC3U 800
XC3 780
XC3 Black 730

No chance that the black will be $30 over MSRP and not include a backplate.

I think people might get a sticker shock who haven't realized the pricing schemes from the previous generation.   The 2080 HC was around $900 iirc so expect $200-$500 more from baseline and on for the rest of the SKUs.  Kingpin, expect a $900 added charge if the last gen was any indication, etc.

Also, I wouldn't say it's price gouging but priced based on costs and possibly added costs during these times, competition and adjustments of inflation.

EVGA does command a premium for the HC and KPE SKUs, but if we simply look at the 2000 series for the air cooled solutions it wasn't as much. I picked up a 2080ti FTW3 Ultra for $1350 which was $150 over FE. I'm willing to go $200, maybe $300, over the 3090 FE for a 3090 FTW3 Ultra, but $400/$500 over FE isn't reasonable.

However, you do bring up a point that we are in unique times to say the least. I guess if EVGA does want to charge a $400-$500 premium for their air cooled solutions, than people are welcome to go else where. Which I just might do if prices are that crazy high.

I've edited my posts but yeah, I see what you're saying.  I think there might be additional costs because of everything that's gone on this year so expect the unexpected is what I'm leaning towards.

Clearly the 3090 is ahead of its time hence it's price but it would be nice if AMD could trade blows with it when it does seem they won't even get close.  The 3080 on the other hand is more of the norm if you will.

My buddy purchased his 2080 FE day 1 at $860 after tax. What was the Evga equivalent at launch? I don't remember exactly, but I feel like it was over $1000?

Prices leaked from Spain... and they're awful

3080 XC3 BLACK --> 749.49€
3080 XC3 --> 799.89 €
3080 XC3 Ultra --> 819.90 €
3080 FTW3 --> 849.90 €
3080 FTW3 Ultra --> 879 €

If these are for 3080 for the FTW3 series, I cannot even imagine what 3090s are going to be... I'm a happy EVGA user, I really like their warranty and all that stuff, but this time their GPUs are seriously overpriced. I guess it's FE this time, which is a pitty.

ha, you caught me mid edit too :)

Yeah, you have some good points. Sure the 2080ti FTW3 Ultra might have only been $150 over the FE, but that was 2018. 2020 is a crazy year so we can't expect 2020 (supply chain shortages/political unrest/everything's on fire/COVID-19/general stupidity all around) to be anything like 2018.

If the cooling solutions on the 3080/3090 FEs are decent enough to keep the cards are decent temps, then it's going to be difficult to fork out 400/500 extra for an evga card that might cool a little bit better. However, it might be a case of you will be lucky to get anything, no matter the price, if the shortages in the stock are to be believed.

I'm not sure what the FE equivalent was but if I had to guess, it's between a XC gaming GPU and a FTW3 so with that said, the FTW3 was around $800-$900 IIRC while the Hydro versions were around $900-$1000.

Those are placeholder prices. A lot of retailers have posted listings up, but not having actual prices yet. Amazon accidentally posted the MSI Ventus and Trio 3080 and 3090 the other day and the 3090 was $1549 for the Ventus and $1599 for the Trio. There's a thread in the nvidia subreddit about it if you want to see more.

I had set out to want a FTW3 Ultra, but if it does end up being $300+ over the FE I'm not as sure that it'd be worth it anymore. The Founders Edition is not just a cherry picked reference board with an average cooler this time around. It's the first founders edition with a custom PCB and an interesting cooler that apparently cost $150 on its own to manufacture. It might actually be a good card on its own and without the premium of third parties.

It does not make sense that the Black edition is priced over the FE. Sure evga has longer and better warranty but the FE has a custom pcb, pretty cool cooler which is not easy to produce. So the BE has no backplate, a simple cooler and is still priced $50 above MSRP of the founders? Yikes
I hope these prices are not final yet!

If this leak is indicative of what we can expect to pay in the U.S. then that sounds about right. FTW3 Ultra is $180 up and over FE. You have a 3 year transferable warranty that isn't voided putting the card under a water block, iCX3 sensors the tell the temp of the VRM and VRAM, dual BIOS (useful if you have a bad flash, say to a hotter vbios from a different card), 3x8 pin power even on the 3080 (say goodbye to the 375w limit) and what may ultimately be a better cooler (they raised linked PT from 88 to 92c with FE, meaning, despite the cooler having another 90C cooling capacity the cards in question require another 90w on average). Wait until you see the Ampere FE cards run up to 85C on default fan algorithm. Also, no warranty if you replace the cooler, and unlike the AIB coolers, Nvidia may know you disassembled the card due to how it's pieced together.

Hey if you want to be locked down to 375w with a warranty that is voided the moment you disassemble the card to put it under a water block, no ability to see VRM and VRAM temps then "save" $180.

Me? I'm probably going 3090 FTW3 Ultra and waiting for a water block.

It would be 30, if you're looking at the Spanish prices.  FE is 719 there.  And the price difference does make sense if you think about associate codes.  Black edition ends up being cheaper than FE by a few dollars.  I got back to my prediction in USD of 850(maybe 860) for FTW3U, 830 for FTW3, 800 for XC3U, 780 for XC3 and 730 for Black before taxes and associate.  Lines up perfectly once you take out the VAT and convert from listed prices.

I'd probably be in if 200$ or less over the FE.

Yep great point, simply deduct 5% from whatever the prices are for actual price.

If 3090 FTW winds up being $1680 US that works out to -$84 or $1596. I'll gladly pay $96 for all of the aforementioned advantages of FTW3 over FE.

Yes the FE cooler costs more than the FTW3 cooler and there is likely some minor price gouging going on on the part of EVGA but in the grand scheme of things, this is how much top tier non-reference AIB costs.

If you think this is bad, I hear Asus Strix 3090 is $1750-1800 and it has LESS features (same 3x8 pin power, NO temp sensors on PCB, non transferable warranty, comparable cooler, NO associate code / 5% discount).

Oh I forgot to mention the safety fuse that FTW3 has that FE does not.

Not everyone is able to order directly from EVGA’s website people. It does not make sense to price your product thinking Associate discounts. I am sure a lot of the sales are generated by third party sellers and increasing your price point against your competitor for the voluntary discount you provide on your website is not logical.

EU doesn’t even have any option for Associate code but all the third party sellers still price the base product (Black) higher than FE.

I wouldn't compare the FE to the FTW3.  FTW3 is a better all around GPU.  It costs more for a reason.  You get more bells and whistles.

For reference:

Nvidia RTX 2080 FE

EVGA RTX 2080 SUPER FTW3 ULTRA

At the end of the day, they aren't the same and shouldn't be compard to each other.  FE will get beat by the FTW3 hands down.

Also, the FTW3 is taller (Custom PCB).

 Use this Associate Code at your checkouts or follow these instructions for Up to 10% OFF on all your EVGA purchases:
