Update for those still waiting: I requested step up in November 1st, 2018, and got out of the queue today, so almost three months.

I can also confirm that EVGA seems to honor the price at time of step up (so in my case 1149 USD instead of the now raised 1249 USD).

I entered the queue on 10/6, and just got the email to pay today. I was excited to see I technically get to save $100, as well on the XC Black card.

My two EVGA GTX1080-Ti SC2 in SLI (Stepping up to two 2080-Ti 11G-P4-2282-KR):

Step 1: 10-28-2018 (Both cards)
Step 2: 01-29-2019 (Both cards)
Step 3: 01-29-2019 (1 card)
Step 4: 01-30-2019 (1 card)

Step 4 Email includes:

Original Price: 669.99 [EVGA GTX1080-Ti SC2]
New Product Price: 1149.99 [11G-P4-2282-KR]
Tax: 0.00
Shipping: 41.78
Total Upgrade Cost: 521.78
You will be issued a RMA number for the return of your original product within 1-2 business days through email.

So it was only $480.
Plus $41.78 was for overnight shipping.

TY EVGA!

Thanks to EVGA sticking to the original agreement of $1149; was able to afford an EVGA NVLink and a new PSU (EVGA SuperNOVA 1600 P2). TY again EVGA!

And ty David for professionally helping in answering questions about making payments 2day.

…just received Email notification for Step 5 (1 card).

Edit: idk if it matters but...

Step 5 Email will be like an RMA and start out,

"EVGA Step-Up RMA Request - Step 5 of 5"

And the Email will have all the information u need to send it back. It includes a label u will print out and stick on box that is for use by EVGA to quickly process ur card. There is everything u need to know in the Email. EVGA is very professional. There's their telephone number to call if need be. Everything. GL

Got my notification yesterday also.  Originally submitted on 11/7/2018.

Waited until today to submit payment because I wanted to call to ask them if I could change the shipping method from UPS Ground.
Answer was that they can't change it and whatever you select when registering during Step 1 is locked in - changing it would make you lose your spot in the Queue.

Sucks but oh well.

Any idea how long it takes to go from payment to receiving your RMA Label?  Email says 1-2 days but I'm hoping to get this dropped off and sent to them before the weekend so it travels more quickly and then up to 5 days snail mail back to me in Virginia.

i was also prepared for 1 to 2 days but, was a matter of minuets.

i'm sending in two cards Friday, but my new cards are coming Overnight. So i'll prob send my old cards Friday ASAP. At least it will be one box and maybe cheaper. it was nice EVGA processed both cards so quickly; just like a pair of EGVA 560 many years ago. it was that professional treatment by EVGA that reminded me to go with 2x 1080-ti in September when RTX came out; and step-up to 2x 2080-ti when available to. i LUV EVGA!

Nicest thing is the EVGA software and nVidia drivers are so mature now and i am comfortable with EVGA software now after using it for 5 months with 2x 1080-ti's; verses Afterburner i'd used for years with 2x 560's, 2x 760's and 2x 1070's.

So I joined the queue for step up on 10/27 and got out of the queue on 01/29. Now to decide do I really want to move from the 1080 TI FTW3 to the 2080 TI Black

I went from a 1080TI to a 2080 and wasn't impressed.  It was a sidegrade (actually felt worse in some games) but I got such a good price on the 2080 using some discounts that stepping up was a no-brainer for me.  Can't wait to see how it runs.

---

Took 2 hours from payment until I received the RMA info.

I didn't manage to make the cut-off for pickup today.  Stupid USPS website made it sound like a flat rate box would fit, but it didn't so I had to make a 2nd trip.  Would've arrived with EVGA on Saturday but now it won't be until Monday.  No clue if EVGA is even open to receive and process packages they receive on weekends anyway.  Oh well.

Any idea if they have quick turnaround on receiving the old card and shipping out the new?  Like maybe same day?  I was told it'd take about 4-5 days to get from CA back to me in VA once it's shipped.  Fingers crossed I get it by next Friday/Saturday.

Re: RTX 2080Ti STEP-UP WAiTiNG LiST 2019/01/31 18:26:39 (permalink)
I just got the email last night approving mine and made the payment for it.  Going from a 1080ti FTW3 to the 2080ti XC Black.  Looking at the actual dimensions The 2080ti will be easier to put in as the 1080ti I had to lower in diagonally then seat it into the slot.  My case was just a few mms shy of a direct swap in.  The new one will VERY easily go in being about 9/10s of an inch shorter.

Now I just need to figure a cost effective way to ship it because if I use the original box, its a hair too big for flat rate shipping boxes.  And I weary of just putting it into the anti-static bag and putting it in a flat rate box with peanuts or other type material.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Got the difference paid, have been issued an RMA and I am mailing my 2080 back today. Whoo Hoo

It was a much bigger hassle than I anticipated getting my computer to run off the integrated graphics card though.

I was wondering if anyone had any idea of how long I might be waiting once EVGA receives my card and shipping the 2080 Ti.  I am assuming my 2080 runs perfectly and has no issues.

It's not required as in they wont accept it.  It's just a strong suggestion to minimize the likelihood of damage.

Dang, so I paid an extra $10-15 to ship it in my own box lol.  The EVGA box is too large to fit in the USPS flat rate box.

@Merrick: From skimming through all the pages in this thread (yes, I have too much time on my hands) - it seems that EVGA can have a turnaround time of as quickly as same day or next day to get your card, check it, and ship out the 2080TI to you.

Got mine shipped out yesterday and is scheduled to arrive on Wednesday.  Bought $800 insurance and it cost me $65 plus $8 for packaging.

I am not gonna lie I am disappointed that I couldn't step up to a more premium 2080 Ti like the 3-slot FTW model as I would have gladly payed extra for it.

Nevertheless I am hoping I will have my new 2080 Ti by early week after next.

Also received my email on Tuesday and shipped out yesterday.  Are you supposed to get a prepaid label to send it in?  Doesn't matter as I paid $80 for UPS 2nd day Air LOL but was wondering.  That was with $1200 insurance and from East Coast to West.

Got into Step Up que on 9/28, received the email to submit payment on 1/29, shipped my 1080 back to them on 2/1 via 2nd day, they will have it on 2/4, they say 1 to 3 business days to ship out new card, chose 2 day return shipping when I went into Step Up que, they should ship by 2/7, I should have it by Saturday 2/9 if all goes as planned

FYI, there is an Adobe Acrobat attachment to the step #5 email.  It is a shipping label with your return address, the EVGA "ship to" address and your RMA number, along with a barcode for the RMA number.  I would suggest printing this and attaching it to your package when you return your old card to them.  It can only help to avoid confusion and expedite EVGA getting your new card to you

I'm curious what they do with the returned cards.  I bet they are used for refurbished and RMA replacements.

You get a label in the PDF like Wavesponge mentioned - it's just not prepaid though.  Has a barcode that they can scan to identify your RMA Number and card (and probably process it a little faster).

USPS says mine should reach them on Monday also.  I'm hoping they can process it same day and ship it so I get it by the weekend.  *fingers crossed*

UPS or Fedex will do.

i paid Fedex to pack mine and they are the best at it.

It will be in a nice pretty new box with a large FEDEX logo on it and all properly padded... will arrive at EVGA. (Actually two 2x1080-Ti's. Insured for $1,250 each  just in case anything big goes wrong... with that much i can flat out buy 2080-Ti's. Fedex will fully refund shipping cost if the delivery is late or insurance is used for damage. So, they stand by their packing.)

I doubt that.  It's illegal (unless the law has changed) to sell something that is used/previously owned as new.  To me, it makes more sense to hold onto them as RMA replacement units and/or sell them at a slight discount.

I doubt that.  It's illegal (unless the law has changed) to sell something that is used/previously owned as new.  To me, it makes more sense to hold onto them as RMA replacement units and/or sell them at a slight discount.

That is also where B stock cards come from...

Ah my mistake.  I misread what you meant originally - what they do with the cards we send back.

Yeah, most likely B-stock or used as replacements for warranties.

I thought you meant they were going to step us up to used/returned 2080 TI's.

Don't have my tracking # but my card should be arriving to EVGA today (if not already delivered).  Step up doesn't show that they've received it yet. Here's to hoping that they process it and ship mine out today...

[killing time waiting for two 28080-Ti's...]

haha i was tempted to correct ur misinterpreted question. But that would have been much easier said than done. lol

Wats more interesting (i'm speculating) is how they use RMA type Email/process for their Set-Up program too. It's very logical to do so and keeps things in order. Meaning, actual RMAs and Step-ups, are processed with the equal priority. There's just a single shared protocol with very slight differences.

But like u said idshadow, Step-up ppl, get brand new products. And Actual RMA ppl get used, refurbished and occasionally new cards.

I have two 560-Ti's with over two years left on an extended 10 year warranty. And if one of them fell under warranty, EVGA would have to replace with something as good or better. One is in its' original box and never used but ready to be snatched and implemented if need be. Because the other 560-Ti runs 24/7, for five years now (after being used for two years stressful gaming on it) and is now in an HTPC/DVR-Server for Xbox 360 Media Center extenders around my house. So it might go before the warranty runs out.

reminds me of a lucky story. i purchased a BFG brand 8800GTX the day they were released. (2006 i think.) and it failed a couple weeks before the warranty ran out. because they had no more original ones, the BFG company did a great job replacing it with their beefed-up Super Duper OCed version of their 8800GTX. Just a few weeks later, they closed their doors/were out of business. lucky, aye?

the replacement 8800GTX had firmware with Fan speeds adjusted for temps and i immediately noticed the fan speed-up and down. So i GIDed and discovered how easy it was to adjust fan speeds. because of that card, i learned to always monitor a card's temps and adjust the Fan. after all, my original 8800GTX would have lasted forever, if i had adjusted its' fan speeds. To this day i've never had another one of my over 10 (mostly in SLI) cards fail.

Can we purchase extended warranties on the cards we receive from the Step Up program if we didn't get it on the original card (ie. purchase it for the 2080 TI if I didn't for the 2080)?

Yeah, I used to love BFG.  Last card I had from them before the went under was the 260ti.  Had many of their cards before and the lifetime warranty was great.

On another note, looks like they updated my Step Up profile to show that they received it today.  It's 6PM PST in their time zone so I doubt I'll see an update that a card was shipped out to me tonight.

i'm not sure where it says so, but the extended warranties CAN be transferred to the Step-up card. That IS what i'm doing and IS wat i have done in the past.

Maybe as long as the step-up is withing 90 days of purchase of the original product an extended warranty could be purchased for the Step-up card, but IDK. maybe not. i'm just not sure were the info is. hopefully someone reads this and points the way.
