Can someone please give me an idea of what the normal operating temperatures for an EVGA RTX 2080 Super XC Ultra should be? I've just purchased this and its idling around 50°C-55°C and then getting up to 75°C-77°C while gaming (ARK / Wildlands so far, having tried other games yet). Part of this is my case fans not providing enough airflow as removing the case door drops the peak temps down by about 5°C-7°C, but even then it seems like its fairly high. Are ~72°C temps normal for an air-cooled card of this type while gaming?

Thanks

At 100% (before I put on an AIO watercooler) it would be around 73C overclocked with the default fan profile. At 100% fan, it was about 60 to 62C tops.

For everyone it will be different but can hover at a certain range dependent on case air flow, ambient temps and load.  65c-80c seems the reasonable range for most on air.  You still have room up to 88c/89c where it's capped at but will throttle itself if you ever reach that high as there are built in protections.

A list of your PC specs including case would be helpful including where your fans are positioned and if they're set as intake and or exhaust.

Use this Associate Code at your checkouts or follow these instructions for Up to 10% OFF on all your EVGA purchases:

     Summary of system specs:
    Operating System - Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
    CPU - Intel Core i7 4770K @ 3.50GHz
    RAM - 32.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (10-10-10-30)
    Motherboard - Gigabyte Z87X-UD4H-CF
    Graphics
    - VE247 (1920x1080@60Hz)
    - VE247 (1920x1080@60Hz)
    - VE247 (1920x1080@60Hz)
    - 4095MB(???) NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER (EVGA)
    Case - Corsair Obsidian 750D

I've got the default fan layout for the case with 2 140mm intake fans in the front and 1 140mm exhaust fan in the back. There's also a fan on the CPU cooler mounted so that air flows through the cooler toward the exhaust fan in the back.

As a side question, Speccy is reporting that my card only has 4GB of memory, but according to my product registration and Precision X1, there are 8GB... is Speccy just wrong here?

EDIT: Forgot to mention that the room where my computer sits is usually around 72°F.

Thanks for this, so even with the case open I'm running a little warm it seems. I have been able to get somewhat cooler temperatures by downloading Precision X1 and setting the fans to "Aggressive" (~70°C with the case closed), but still seems like its warmer than it should be. I'm wondering at this point if replacing the case fans with something higher airflow might help.

Personally, I've always had the best results by setting all my fans as intake except for the AIO radiator at the top, which is set for exhaust (heat rises, so it only makes sense). That's with blower style coolers, or with these non-blower coolers like the 2080 Super XC Ultra has.

The difference isn't huge, though, and can vary a good bit depending on ambient room temps. Your temps are fine - not even close to the old 480 days where 90 to 100C was normal!

Hmm... something to consider changing then. I'm also probably going to upgrade form the AF140's that came with the case for some Noctua NF-A14's or maybe some Corsair ML140's. The AF140's are nice and quiet, but they aren't variable and cap at 1000rpm / 64CFM, so having something that can go above that in higher temp situations would be a benefit I think. Unfortunately, my card doesn't have the AIO radiator so I've got to manage a full air system for the foreseeable future.
