Hey guys, what's up?
So, i just bought a EVGA RTX 2070 Super XC Ultra Gaming and installed Precision X1.
By default, the fans are always off when i'm not playing and the temperature stays between 41°C and 47°C.

When i'm playing, the fans turn on. I played 1hr of Borderlands 3 (on high quality) and it got to 60°C. Within 30s after closing the game, the temperature dropped to 48°C again.

Can i left in this default setting ? Is okay for the GPU to keep its temperature at 40°C+ the majority of the time ?

I tought about changing the fans settings, but i wanted the best setting for performance and a good lifespan. I never had a really good/expensive GPU like this one, so i never really payed attention to things like this.
I'm asking this too because my last GPU (Galax GTX 1060 6GB) stopped working out of nowhere, so i gotta a little worried about this things.

Welcome to the EVGA Forums

Stock setting is fine - though it is designed to make the card as quiet as possible

For performance - I like to keep the fan on 30% & set a custom curve = Temp in C + (10 to 20) --> is Fan RPM %

So, 30% as the minimum fan
       - at 50C the fan is 60-70%
       - at 60C the fan is 70-80%

You balance the sound quality with the performance you see based on keeping the card cooler

Thanks man. Happy to be in the club haha.
Oh, by the way, if my english is a little caveman like, i'm brazilian, so ...

I just set a fan curve kind like the one you said.
I've been reading a lot about fan lifespan too.

My fan curve is set to :
30%fan until 40°C; 45%fan to 45°C; 60%fan to 50°C; 70%fan to 60°C; 80%fan to 70°C; 85%fan to 75°C; 90%fan to 80°C; 100%fan to 83°C;

My computer stays on during the entire day, but i don't really play that much, it's mostly for college stuff.
The curve is a little steep, it's cool to let it on this fan setting the whole time ?

And another question. What about 'Fan Speed Update Period' (default=1000ms) and 'Temperature hysteresis' (default=0°C) ? Should i change something ?

In addition the more cooling air you have within your chassis the less your fans will need to ramp up.

Just to add, you can change fan curves to steppings and vice-versa by double-clicking inside the fan curve editor.

That way the fans won't ramp up gradually, but will only go to your next higher speed when it hits a certain temperature..That can help with noise if it's an issue.
