I had just got a new ssd on my computer and noticed it was  running on sata 1 speeds.  My mobo is a Evga 680i model # 122-CK-NF68-A1 which should run sata 2 speeds.  So I thought it might help to update the bios to the latest  which was NF68_P33.  When it rebooted after the flash it says single graphics card detected in pci e slot 2 or 3.  move it to slot 1.  It has always been in slot  2.  That is what the instructions say if using 1 GPU.  Anyways I switched it to slot one and it makes a long beep and gives error on MOBO F7, nothing displays on the monitor.  I also tried slot 3 and that is the same error as it within slot 2.  With it in slot 2 or 3 I can hit delete and get into the CMOS.  I've tried the alt + f2 to load the flash utility but the error comes up before it loads.  I know it is an old computer, just wanted to get a little more life out of it.  Thanks for the help.

With the newest firmware, you do need to keep the card in slot 1.  I'd try shutting down, turn off the PSU, hit the power button (to discharge power), and then pull the CMOS battery for a few minutes.  After, try booting up again and see if the BIOS will let you POST with the card in slot 1.

Thanks for the quick reply.  That is very helpful knowing that they changed slots for single GPU, I thought for sure something went wrong with the flash, now it's more of a maybe I can get it to work now.  I tried pulling battery for a few min with power unplugged but still 7F error.  I'm trying again but I'm gonna wait 30 min or so.  Well at least now I might have some hope.

I get the 7F or 85 post code at boot. What does it mean?

It may also be giving you a "press F1 to continue, or DEL to enter setup" that you can't see..Maybe try pressing F1 and see what happens if pulling the CMOS battery for longer (10-15 minutes) with the PSU turned off/unplugged doesn't give you any joy.

After BIOS P31 you can only use the top PCIe slot for a graphics card as stated above by Lee.

Still no luck.  Tried a few more times.  Still get the 7f fault.  I did try f1 but nothing at least nothing observable.  If I hit delete it changes to code 01, and if I press f10 (after delete) which is the cmos save and exit it will restart.  Any other ideas?

Sounds like you'll need to have evga send you out a replacement bios chip with the correct bios flashed to it.

I'll look in to that. If it's more than $20 it might not be worth it though since it is so old.

I got it working again!!!  Thank you so much bob16314!!!  He had PM'd me a flash package to downgrade to P31.  I created the usb flash drive with rufus like he said.  Plugged it in and booted up.  It still didn't flash.  Moved card to 2nd slot and was able to get into CMOS before graphics card in wrong slot error and tried a setting for error and changed it to halt on no errors.  Still wouldn't flash.  Moved card back to slot 1 hit F1, enter, and y a few times then the light on usb stick started flashing.  Rebooted and seemed to work but still no display.  Moved card back to slot 2 and saw firmware was 31 and it booted to windows.  And to top it off I checked my ssd drive and it is now running at sata 2 speeds.  Thanks everyone for helping me.
