I started a re-build last year and a few of things got in the way of me finishing it, like children and buying a house...

Anyways I really hope to get this PC up and running this week. I took it out of the basement and it really needs to be cleaned off, its just covered in dust from my dryer ( door was defective and some dryer dust was coming out, good thing I purchased new washer/dryer units...).
The first part that I need to do is clean the waterblock on the 1080TI. there was a bad fitting that had a scratch in the nickel plating exposing the aluminum to the copper.
Some chemicals from wal-mart will clean that right off, I hope to pick that up Sunday morning.
I will connect the old water pump to it and let it run a mix of that chemical and distilled water for half the day to really flush the card out. Some pipe cleaners may be in order too.
Will also need a can of air and a microfiber cloth for the dust.

Chemicals added, will give that awhile to run/flush.

No leaks and the flow is awesome, can't wait to finish cleaning it out.

I will need to flush out the CLR ( yeah I used CLR )and then run my normal primochill system prep, and refill it and add my fluid and primochill blocker.

    Congrats on the House

Wow CLR ---OK, have you done that before ?  What ratio / do you use it full strength ?

I'd worry about solder being attacked for one thing with any aggressive cleaner

Do you use a filter to protect the pump, just in case something breaks free ?

I'd flush twice with distilled water & run up to temp + 1 Hr before flushing

Most people use vinegar & water ---> looks like you took the nuke it option

I have not used CLR before, but I'm not doing regular cleaning. I have rust and some other buildup in the GPU block and most likely the radiator.
However it's just for a short time and all the gear is mostly new so I'm not worried about solder points or rubber seals.

The pump is a MCB so I'm not concerned about it, as they are tanks. I am going to break it apart before putting the final loop back together.

I am working on flush 2 (2nd gallon), looks good.

I didn't think about the fine micro fins in the gpu heat sink.... its filled with bits. I picked up an air can and will be taking that apart too.... oops

    Woot all done!
it even booted right up, origin took an update and that was it.
logged into teamspeak3 and hooked up with some old buddies and jumped into BF4.

I did have to load default BIOS settings and apply my saved profile to make it work after I did a reboot...

So much cleaner, just going to leave it clear and let it run for a week before applying any dyes.

So am I, lots of BF4.
wish a good updated version would come out, I don't think people really want WW1 and WW2 games.
