Latest Achievement:Nitrogen A favourite element when chilled to a liquid and used to smash flowers and make ice cream...
cokeman54 has been awarded 45 trophies click here to see them all.
cokeman54 - It is fun to tinker with! I taught chemistry for five years and had a blast with liquid nitrogen! It also is used to cool the coils in MRIs which I just had on my lower back a week and a half ago. Cheers on the badge man. rs

It is also used in the Dasani water process to dissiapate air before the cap is put on. This maintains the purity of the water. (Nestea's Also)

bill1024 I believe they use it to overclock CPUs and video cards when they go for world record runs.
+1 Good call - I have seen some exotic rigs using Liquid Nitrogen for cooling! And cokeman54 +1. I worked for the Coca-cola company making the syrups for their sodas back in college (mid eighties). Did not know Dasani used it for that purpose. Live and learn! Cheers! rs

Lonely DwarfAfter a long search, Pluto was first recognised in photographic plates at the US Lowell Observatory by astronomer Clyde Tombaugh on February 8th, 1930. The discovery of the (then) planet was announced in March of that year. Pluto was famously reclassified as a dwarf planet by the IAU in 2006, before it had even completed one orbit around the Sun since its discovery. (Trophy suggested by Dingo).

Belongs to: Elementals Neon is very rare on Earth (despite the signs that are named after it) but is the fifth most common element in the Universe. Imagine the neon sign you could make with a nebula's worth of this noble gas! They've been around since the dawn of computing - 1956 saw the first HDD, with a 3.75MB capacity it was bigger than a car! Now available with storage in the TBs.
