Never had coil whine with 5 video cards, 3 from EVGA and 2 from ZOTAC.

gtx 980 ti hybrid, has small amounts of coil whine when stressed/ Cant hear them when gaming tho.

i haven't had coil whine with any of the 900 cards that passed through my hands, and there were A LOT. of the EVGA cards, I had 2x 970 SC, 1x 980 FTW, 1x 980 SC and now a 980 Ti Classy. from other brands I had 2x MSI 970 FR0ZR, 1x MSI 980 Ti FROZR LE and 1x Asus 980 strix. none had coil while. 
 
but i did have what I thought was coil whine on a Gigabyte Fury X which I ended up returning. Later I found out that it may have been pump noise. i wrote a looooong rant about it on techpowerup. a bunch of people came out claiming to have the same problem. some of them may have been idiot haters just pretending to have one. but others posted videos of it.

It's rare, but it happens. Evga CS will help out those very few that do.

My new 980Ti currently sounds crazy under any FPS above about 60... Its a strange noise and pretty damn loud. I really don't want to go down the RMA route because draining and removing from my loop is going to be a right pain in the a***
 
What the hell is this noise then, 2nd PSU in shot for testing - defo the card?

Got it here.  Just got my GeForce GTX 970 SSC Gaming, ACX 2.0+ (04G-P4-3975-KR) and everything was fine until I fire up my games.  It is more evident on Crysis games.  Weird thing is, the annoying noise starts when game starts, not even actually playing the game yet.  You know, where it was displaying the Intel, Nvidia, etc. logos.

I owned a 970sc ,traded it for a 980ti Hybrid plus some cash I might add. Both cards were Quiet as a mouse fart. LOL Speaking of such has anyone actually heard one ?

not from my video cards just the power supply and its in a different compartment in the back of the case

I do have coil whine on my 980 Ti SC+, pretty much like in the video posted above. Yours is probably that loud because the card is almost naked, no fan to dampen the noise.
 
As far as I'm concerned, half of the coil whine I had was coming from my PSU. I replaced it with a Corsair RM850i which is whisper quiet but the graphics card does make that electronic low frequency buzzing noise. Some games tend to make it whine louder even though GPU load remains the same (Dying Light for example). I only play with Vsync ON @75Hz (thanks Dell for this wonderful P2416D)
 
I also encounter the famous fan rattling noise at certain speeds, especially at 34%.
 
Overall, noise is the main issue of this card. Don't know if I should RMA the card... What if I get an even noisier card ?

yes gtx 980ti sc reference design but honestly doesnt bother me not very audible and the fans are virtually dead silent

Not that I know of yet. But I have not worked to many 9xx cards yet.
Nothing a bit of super glue can't fix. Just make sure there is not a bad reason for its whining.
 
Now the 200kv 100amp flyback inmy TV, yes it whines...

Also No on either of our PSUs.. both are EVGA Supernova 850 P2.

I've had 2 GTX 970s and both of them have coil whine lol, I deal with it, its not that bad and its only when its not being used. Once I go into a game it stops

I have a EVGA GTX 980 Ti ACX 2.0+ and since a couple of weeks the noise is getting more and more annoying... I sent an email to EVGA and let's see what they say...
Even with headphone I can hear the noise.... it's frustrating since I spent 700$ on it and was hopping some good performance/silence since I even have a custom WC, but now coil whine is getting unbearable...
 
Hope I can get a new card since this one is not good at all...

i have some intermittent noise from my 970SSC, also have experienced some high pitched noise when plugged into the hdmi port.
