Hey, everyone!

This is my first post on the EVGA Forums. I recently purchased an SC2 GTX 1080 Ti and I'm trying to isolate the fan shroud to give a white plasti dip finish to color-match the rest of my build. I have separated the shroud from the rest of the card but I can't figure out how to remove the black bar with the RGB LED "EVGA | GEFORCE GTX 1080 Ti." I removed all the visible screws holding it and the little bits of PCB to the silver part of the shroud, but it still won't separate. I would very much appreciate any help with this.

I've attached some pictures to clarify what I'm having trouble with

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello Xepher101 and welcome to the EVGA forums! I just wanted to make sure you are aware that modifying the shroud will void the warranty.

Why is this? Plasti Dip is removable and putting Plasti Dip on the fan shroud will have no impact on the card's thermals or performance. That just sounds like a shady way for EVGA to force people to pay a premium for the ELITE colored versions of their cards. It is very unsettling and puts a bad taste in my mouth for EVGA products if adding a completely removable coat of Plasti Dip to recolor my card voids my warranty when the white colored version of the card costs $150 more. That's ridiculous.

There shouldn't be an issue doing this so long as the card is returned in factory condition should you need to RMA it at any point during its warranty.

I've heard that you can still RMA a card as long as the actual PCB hasn't been modified.

The card as a whole needs to be returned in factory condition this means the PCB and any  other components that ship with the card included.

Could be adhesive or ultrasonically welded in place and not removable -- just a guess

If you don't mind paying a service fee to replace the shroud.

I did manage to separate the light bar from the shroud, it is removable (turns out it's just connected with little clips, so it pulls apart and clicks back together). The plasti dip was successful, however, this was my first time using plasti dip so it's not a perfect application (some bubbles and texture inconsistencies), but it will look just fine once in my build. Plus, I can peel it off and try again sometime in the future if it bothers me too much. Thanks for all the warranty information, everybody.

So, assuming I have everything straight if I need to RMA the card for whatever reason, and I return the fan shroud to factory condition, I should be fine? And if the fan shroud is damaged, then I'll just be charged a fan shroud replacement cost?
