I've had my PW 2017 Nissan 370Z for only about a month now and I noticed What I thought was a water spot on the roof of my car when I went to pick up some coffee. I quickly grabbed my detail spray to try and get rid of it but nothing. I went and grab my clar bar and went at it for a couple minutes. Nothing....

What Should I do?

Should I take it back to the dealer and have them repair it?

Take it back, I'm not sure how long they cover paint for, But it's fairly new so that shouldn't be a problem. Just avoid discussing things you've tried, They might try to blame you for it.

Edit: From what I'm reading, They don't cover anything paint related...  But it doesn't hurt to ask.

That's what I'm going to do. I bought it May 16th.

There wasn't any bird poo there was there?
Bird poo can etch a mark just like that into the paint.
Hard to get it out if that is what it is, depending how far into the clear coat it went.

I'm pretty sure it's not bird poo. I watch my car like a hawk and I carry tons of microfiber towels and a bottle of detail spray in the car lol. It's smooth to the touch to it might be under the clear coat. I called the Nissan service department this morning and they told me to bring it in whenever I'm off no appointment needed.

I'm going to bring it in Wednesday so I'll keep you all updated. Thanks for all the help/suggestions!

Thinking a paint flaw is not going to be covered by that.  My Focus has stalling motor, bad electrical issues, vibration in drive train, environmental controls do not work right and Sync radio often fails to work.  Still not a lemon.

Sorry for the delayed update. Been too busy with work. I took the car to a closer dealership this morning and they took some pictures to email to corporate. I should hear back from them within a weeks time or less.

It def looks like the gray primer under the color coat. Looks like the bot stopped spraying for a sec while the line moved maybe..... hard to say. They probably wont do anything for ya, but they wanted the picts to tell corporate so they have proof that a adjustment needs to be made to the line cause they don't want a avalanche of cars coming in with that. Matching paint is a royal pain.

I'm sad about this. Will repainting the car devalue it? I hear it's hard to match pearl white paint.

Maybe ask the dealer to trade you into another new car ?  You may have to pay for miles used.

    A) Just mention that you do not want the hassle of being without your car. --> are they providing you with an equivalent car while yours is in shop ?

    B) That over-spray or any paint variation will not be acceptable.

    C) Know the lemon law for your state

Nothing to loose in asking or ask the Zone office to allow you to swap out for a modest  $0.30/mile ? (seems to be the common lease overcharge)

Keep receipts, without an accident involved - not sure how value may be impacted

Good luck in however you choose to pursue this.

Yes, they are giving me a loaner same car but in yellow while mine is in the shop. You think it's possible to get a new car and I pay for miles? I have 3.7k miles on it.

At least they were willing to fix it for free

It shouldn't devalue the car at all unless there's still a noticeable difference in the paint in which case I would continue to pester them about it.

You could ask but I highly doubt they're going to give you a new car due to a paint defect they're covering for you. Hell they fight people tooth and nail over lemon law stuff, be happy they even covered the paint issue, I've seen dealerships balk at less.

You could ask but I highly doubt they're going to give you a new car due to a paint defect they're covering for you. Hell they fight people tooth and nail over lemon law stuff, be happy they even covered the paint issue, I've seen dealerships balk at less.

Seriously? If it was a QC issue why wouldn't dealerships fix the issues? That's crazy

    Doubles
At least they were willing to fix it for free

It shouldn't devalue the car at all unless there's still a noticeable difference in the paint in which case I would continue to pester them about it.

    i THINK it will.
it will appear in the maint records and likely raise a eye brow when come time for sale or trade in

who wouldn't be concerned about a re-paint job on a brand new car?

call ins co and ask them how it effects nada value.

    ALSO,
is it going to be a full re-paint or just the affected area (likely just roof)?

what gaurantee get against peeling and fading i a couple/3 yrs down the road?
