Just got my Dark today and got it up and running and I come to find my graphics card is running at PCI-E 1.1 when it should be running at PCI-E 2.0. The BIOs Screen says 1.0 in the speed and GPUz also shows it at 1.1. What could be the problem with this? and yes it is in the first slot and has been reseated. Video Card listed in my Specs, yes its old.

Are you saying that it's reporting this while your card is under load? Click the "?" next to where it says PCIe 1.1 and start the render test -- It should give you a different reading.

Mine said that too..with the render test it says @16 2.0. If it gives you that it shoudl be fine. It may just be the reading from the adaptive power if it's set on your card.

I have ran the render test and the OC Scanner Furry test and it still shows it at PCI-E 1.1. I am thinking of switching it to a lower spot in a bit today, last night was just getting to late.

All drivers have been installed and are up to date. Would reinstalling the NVIDIA software work since I have not done that since I put the new board in?

So you just swapped out boards and nothing else? I would at least remove all drivers(don't care if they are the same) and reinstall.

I uninstalled the old drivers and installed the new ones, Just didn't do the video card because that didn't come to mind. Take in account right now, I just started classes at a university this and am dealing with a infection on my elbow and the antibiotics work well and have some side effects of not thinking clearly and that, that is why I didn't think of that then. I just installed the newest Beta driver from NVIDIA to see if that works.

I agree GPU / Chipset should correctly detect the card. If you remove old drivers as Walley says: Read NOTEs at bottom before you start. If you Installed and reinstalled device drivers, it’s possibly not working just like you expected or has an unknown quirk. Then you may want to check and see if your old drivers actually got removed. Device manager will not show them. To check and see if you have extra drivers from re-installs present on your hardware; you must set a flag for device manager from the cmd box. In the Start Menu, click on "All Programs" and then "Accessories". Now right click on the Command Prompt and click on Run as administrator. Now type in this FLAG/CMD:(do not type the FLAG/CMD:) “set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1” (no quotes) Next type ”devmgmt.msc “ (as administrator) Once you are in Device Manager, go to the "View" menu, select “Show Hidden Devices”. This will show all the device drivers including things that aren’t currently installed in your computer. You can right-click on the driver and then choose Uninstall from the menu to remove the drivers for that old hardware. This procedure can resolve a lot of weird issues, and even increase performance on some machines where you’ve upgraded drivers a ton of times. NOTE: the grayed out drivers may OR may Not still be needed. Before deleteing make sure they are not for some devices (like USBs or some parts of media player).

Yes, the ghosts can be deleted. Be careful with deleting ghosts under items other than the GPU / Items you are working on as they can be for Items /device that are not currently in use.... like a driver for video camera, or remote conferences, or USB plugins, audio devices....etc.

Alright then cool, Thanks for the help KenMcC, I really appreciate it. So I have uninstalled the drivers of video and reinstalled them, it is still sitting at PCI-E 1.1 according to GPU-z and at 1 in BIOs. I have even moved it down to the next slot that does PCI-E x16, no change. Could it be my graphics card or the motherboard or something in the system?

My 1st Dark mobo came with a dead slot on it, so it's not impossible that you might have a slot issue. EVGA was very good about replacing my board & the new board works perfectly.

You're running a GT 240 graphics card. Is that even capable of PCI-E 2.0?

Yes it is capable of that and I believe it was in the past. I would like to upgrade to a 760 FTW or the 770FTW cards, both 4GB versions, but money is not available much right now due to college.

Okay so yesterday I popped out the graphics card again and put it back up to PCI-E slot 1. I noticed that on both sides of the card at the bottom where the teeth are, two are missing a tiny piece of gold metal from them, on on each side but at different spots, could this be a cause of not running at PCI-E 2 with this card or does that not hurt? its only a tiny piece of the fully length that is missing.

Okay so update on this, I know its old but just letting you know what happened. I called Tech Support last Thursday because I finally got my dads old GT220 to test my motherboard with and it also posted at PCI-E 1.1. I was on the phone for almost an hour talking with them and trying different things and saying what I have tried but all failed. They sent my setup over to the parts to duplicate the problem Friday and Saturday but failed too. I have been told to RMA the board for a new one. Question on the RMA, do I just send the board back or send it and the parts that came with it back? I ask because I also am curious, do I get a whole new board in a box that ships to me or just the motherboard?

You should return the MB in it's box with all contents. EVGA will usually try to fix your MB and send it back, If they cannot, then they may send you a new MB, that is why you should send it back with all contents.

For EVGA RMAs you would just send the motherboard itself with and cover the CPU socket, either with the CPU socket cover or something else to protect it during shipping. The replacement shipped will just be the motherboard itself with no accessories. We do not wait for the testing and repair before shipping out the replacement so the replacement will be a different physical board. You can see the full warranty details including the shipping here.
