Hey folks,

yesterday I bought a P67 FTW and it ran well until today. Because it had the BIOS version 120, I flashed the new 121 version. I hoped it would have solved the 99.8 MHz BLCK Bug, but it did not.
Instead it showed my the error code C after the restart (flashed the Bios in Windows). I managed to resolve this issue by plugging the sata cable out and in again. It happened sometimes, but I always resolved it by the plugging method.

So now the system is shutdown, but if I try to start it, it shows again the error C. The thing is it starts as usual and beeps and Windows is booting if I pull the graphics card out. If a graphics card is installed the error shows up, no matter which slot or which type of gpu. (GTX 560Ti, 7500 LE, HD 4850)

I already tried to clear the CMOS or booting with the other Bios, it does not work. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

C means the board cannot initialize the CPU. You may want to reseat the CPU and look for bent or damaged pins. Then reseat your power connectors or test another PSU.

Might want to consider your PSU if its on the small side.

Today i reseated the cpu and now it works without problems. Strange thing is, this error occured for the first time after the bios flash, but never happened before.

Anyway thanks for the quick help

what would be a possible cause with an upgrade build (new evga Z68 FTW MB + new i7 2600K cpu, all other components same) having "C" POST code from cold boot only, 2-4 times in a row and then running normally and passing all possible stability testing? a faulty board? re-seating the CPU didn't help. I emailed you last night about my board's trouble, could you take a look at my threads please?

A new old PSU solved my problem finally. The error always shows up if I will use my Silverstone Strider Plus 500, with my Corsair HX 520 it runs flawless since and it never happened again. So reseating the cpu had no effect, it was a coincidence that it worked after.

I may give another PSU (Corsair 750W) a shot too, however my current Thermaltake Toughpower 1KW PSU tested good and was working fine with 790 build, so I don't understand why would it start intermittently (only at cold boot) failing now ...

My Silverstone Strider worked just fine with my old Foxconn Rattler, it seems that the EVGA P67 is selective.

just wanted to update. my intermittent "C" code and immediate shutdown problem at cold start were resolved by trying out a different PSU (spare Corsair 750W). no more problems, it boots up always. had to RMA my Tt 1KW PSU even though it passed the Coolmax tester checkup.
