Hello Everyone,
I have just build a new gaming rig, and have the 1070 Ti FTW2 and was trying to figure out how to overclock it correctly. I have never had to go in and manually set the overclock, since the Precision software keeps crashing. Can anyone give me any advice?

the precision is crashing when manually overclocking or the auto overclock feature for the 1070ti is making it crash?

When doing the Auto overclock since I have know Idea how to program it manually on my own without risking it, and causing it to fail.

There are a few good videos on overclocking. I would download heaven bench mark, and slowly move the core mutiplyer in percision by +10 each time tell you notice unstability and then back for -25 for daily use and then the same way for memory but you can move +25 each step and then back off -25 or -50 for daily use. Also make sure you slide the power and temp target to the max . You can push closer to what's stable in heaven but at the risk of it being unstable in games. Some are very picky like overwatch where it is very picky about overclocking.

Let me know if you need any help. But that quick guide should help. But be ready for a possible freeze and or artifacts when you reach instability. But you should avoid a hard crash moving them up slowly

So I followed his instructions, for some reason, ever since I updated windows, it caused the Setting to revert, and is only using 4gb instead of the full 8gb, and not sure what to do.

4gb in what? Not all games will use all 8gb of VRAM most won't get close. Also unsure how windows would effect vram ussage that much. It may be worth reinstalling percision

When I run Benchmark Heaven with the settings like the video showed, its only showing I have a 4gb GPU and not 8gb.

Ah don't worry about heavn showing that at the end it's been broken all the time . Just go to task manager performance tab and click on gpu0 and scroll down and see how much memory it's detecting

superpostion, 3dmark, OCCT are the common ones to use. some games have benchmarks built in also. they are helpful in getting a good OC that is both stable and has good return, meaning you may get a OC that is stable but benchmark score will drop, you need to find that sweet spot for your card since no two will OC exactly the same. try running 3dmark firestrike and time spy with default settings, you can then compare to similar configs to see were you fall.

84 is when throttling starts 93 I believe is the max safe temp. You can make custom fan curves to help the temp

Well at Idle, Im running about 40C and when I run games and doin the benchmark, the highest is like 71 C roughly

doesn't the boost dial back at 50c for the first step may be rembering wrong but 71c at max load is just fine

You can see that information by creating a windows batch file with the following command... @ECHO start cmd.exe /k "C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\NVSMI\nvidia-smi.exe" -q -d temperature Should look like this when running the batch file...  Slowdown temp = when the card will truly thermal throttle.

Awesome, a friend of mine was like if its in the 60s I need to shut down and get a new card and I'm like there is no way. I used to have an MSI Graphics and never done EVGA ones yet.

OP; I have this card as well; make sure to switch over to slave bios to unlock 130% power limit. Here is what I have with Afterburner (Precision X doesnt track cpu usage) In game after about an hour.

What are you asking Shadow? EDIT: If youre referring to the bios switch, it should be at the top of the card near the PCIe power connectors. Turn off PC, move the switch, turn computer back on.
