Just picked up a 1080 Ti FTW3 but I'm having some issues with it. First of all I can't use Precision XOC because it crashes 9/10 times when I try to change any settings on it. MSI Afterburner is working a bit better but when I change the core clock settings manually, nothing happens when I run the benchmark. A strange thing is that within the heaven program it says that my core clock is 2088 MHz so I think something may be messed up with my card. Any suggestions?

#1 Restart your pc.
#2 Open afterburner & minimize it. Do not apply an overclock.
#3 Run a benchmark.
#4 Check afterburner hw monitor after the benchmark completes to see what your clock maxed out at.

Make sure you have the correct drivers installed. Uninstall Precision XOC, restart the pc, install Precision XOC, restart the pc and then run Precision XOC. Make sure afterburner is set to default and close the programme completely. Start Precision XOC. I have linked in a video from my channel on how to overclock a GPU if you needed the help or guidance.

If your card doesn't get stuck at 1569 MHz after doing what I suggested in post #2 then you're overclocking your card too high which is causing the display driver to reset which is causing your card to get stuck in a lower performance state.

The clock speeds in heaven are always incorrect.

Hi,
Lower the power limit you have it maxed out Heaven along with a lot of other benchmarks won't work well that way
Reduce it to 123%
+125 on core clock usually won't work either use +65/ +78/ +91/ +104 first likely will only be able to use +88 for probably 2037.
If you're using the slave vbios use the king|pin fix or switch the master vbios and test,
https://forums.evga.com/1080-TI-FTW3-watercooled-Slave-BIOS-doesnt-go-over-117-Issue-has-been-fixed-see-op-m2693145.aspx?tree=true

You can unlock the core voltage in both evga and msi but use it sparingly +20 or so at first small increments.

My first build,
Case 450D/ ASUS Sabertooth X99/ 5930k with EK mono block / Water loop EK 280p-GTX240 radiators with D5 pump res combo before rads and D5 top after / Trident-Z 3200C14 4x8gb/ EVGA 1000 P2/ EVGA 1080ti FTW3 with EK copper water block.

2nd build,
Case D450/ ASUS x299 Prime Deluxe/ i9-7900x delidded with EK mono block/ Trident-Z 3600C16 4x8gb/ Water loop EK-280p-GTX240 radiators with D5 pump-res combo before rads and D5 top after/ EVGA 1200 P2 / Titan Xp with EK water block.

Just tried running heaven after reboot and MSI minimized with no overclock but I'm still getting stuck at 1969 MHz. Whats weird is that the heaven engine is showing 1999 MHz with the correct FPS and temp in the top right corner during the benchmark.

I've done this several times but the program keeps crashing or the screen goes black and I have to hard reset.

Any other suggestions? It's looking like I have a dud card on my hands here

Your card is operating normally.

How so? My computer still freezes when I try to use Precision XOC to change any settings (raise core clock, mem, power target, fans) and no changes I make to the core clock translate to the actual speed.

Close precision, and only use afterburner for overclocking. Start with +13 on the core and work your way up in +13 increments.

Okay I've tried it and core clock does not go from 1569 to 1582 on MSI h/w monitor. It does show in heaven that the core clock has changed though. Doesn't that mean somethings wrong?

I thought you said the card was boosting to 1969?

Its weird because in the heaven engine benchmark it shows that number but when I go back to the actual h/w monitor the core clock is still capped at 1569.

So where did you see the 1969 reading at?
