I am defanently looking forward to finding out what the cost would be, if for example if they were $20, a years of folding bucks would allow me to Buy 6, the affiliate code bucks I have earned would allow me to buy 2, and the 60 BR's at  $2 each another 6, that would be 14, with no out of pocket expense other than shipping. and since I only need 3, and already have 1, I would be willing to help  a few of you that are realy hard up, and just can not afford one, Providing you cover the shipping, and exhaust your own EVGA resources ( EVGA Bucks first ). I would be limted to helping on 10 units, as it would upset the wife, if I spent any of the SS disability check on this, since I have to feed the family off it, and cover the house note. PM me once the Item is priced, and available, and I'll let you know if my EVGA bucks have been exhausted yet. ( Assuming and dependant that EVGA will let me donate )
* if you do buy something that you have to regester, if you would consider using my affiliate code below,( and upload your invoice ) ; this would allow me to help even more people

These aren't going to be free?

I have lifetime warrenty on my E760 motherboard and all video cards so I'll just let it ride and if something blows out I'll send it in for warrenty replacement....for free.

I doubt anything will happen but you never know.

Thank you. You are a wonderful person. To do that is great on your part.  I was gona do something similar with my EVGA buck if EVGA decides to do what Jacob described in his post. I was gona donate my folding bucks as well. Im not a rich by any means but I just cant swallow that whole deal. I dont want to be a part of 75 chosen ones. Nether i have time to hunt for a thread to be among them. Some one can take my spot. I just thought that it should be some other way.
I cant wait to see what comes of it all. I always have faith though. For good or bad :)

@ Jacob. - Could you possibly post the link to the thread you mentioned here once its out.
Thank you.

Actually that's a great thought, If Jacob could set up a spot where people with EVGA Bucks could donate to help those less fortunate, when it comes to affording the Mod, or Power Boost.  We could set up our own in house charity, EVGA would benefit, the customers would benefit. The people that could afford to give would feel good about helping the community, and those that could not afford it, would still get one for free. This could also be a advertisment for folding, ( just months before the chimp challange ) http://www.evga.com/folding/  Win/Win. Because in fact, We are our brothers keeper, and Karma does exist.

I for one do not blaim evga for a defective mb IMO just to be clear. think about it. why has no one had any issues in the past when the 200 series was here with the same x58 mb? 295 did not even have issues. no higher grade parts drawing more power then they should and issues. I have ran the same e758 evga mb for my 200 series and 400 series gpus, so if there was a defective mother board it would have presented its self before the 400 series.

IMO evga built mb to spec, now they have to change that, for newer hardware as upgraded chipset do.

Nereus - you mb i good without one imo. i have the same and ran 490 sc loaded for hours. 24pin got a bit hot but not burnt. if you prefer by all means, but you would be fine even with those 200 series.

Probably, although I won't be using these same GPU cards forever, but better safe than sorry so I'm ok with buying one. Someone just posted a thread with burnout on a 759 with 285 SLI and a physx card though.. eek.

At issue is two formulas, E=I/R , where E = Voltage, I= current, R= Resistance, as one changes it affects the other. secondely P=I*E where Power  in watts is equal to voltage times amps. Although cards have a rateig of what specifications they are supposed to work withen, a failed componant can drasticaly change these values, I do not suspect that the other thread about the issue with a 200 series card is the norm, I suspect it was more of an isolated incidant. You can google Ohms law, for a more indepth description. But most people with a 200 series card should be safe. However it is true that a 295 is rated at more than a 480 is, I fear, that we can not put a lot of faith in what ATI rated their new cards at, and Nvidia wanting to compete, threw the specs out the window as well. and listed a  rate to complie with ATX, but designed to meet performance, not requirments. which is what I suspect causes the issue. Manufacturers designed a board based on the specs they were given, and those specks, were not compleatley truthfull. GPU's were supposed to fall within design guides, but manufacturer wanted to get more out than could be done withen spec. EVGA anticapated what was happening, and inlarged the traces for the pcie lanes, but had no way of knowing how hard Nvidia would push, beyond what it was telling their partners. This is how I read what has happened, I can not back up my speculations. Untill i see otherwise, I see EVGA as a victom, just like us, and think they went well beyond expectation to address and resolve the issue. There are others that I have upset, by continuing to post about the issue, I appoligize to them, this will be my last post on this thread, ( unless specificaly asked , or addressed.)

Why do people knock evga for helping its members? patience...
would you appreciate it if someone you did a favor for was ungrateful about it?

releasing a board with a potential fire hazard and then charging you for the fix is not doing you a favour.  If EVGA thought that they had the choice whether to address this issue with a fix or not (and thus doing us a favour by doing so) then I would be really concerned about EVGA's business ethics and care for its customer base.  24-Pin power adapters melting is not something you can just ignore.  Have there been reports about any other companies boards 24-pin power connectors melting if you use certain card configurations? (I googled EVGA 24 pin power connector melt and got hits, did the same for ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte NO hits)

Anyone with a registered board and registered cards that could cause a problem should get one for free

Anyone with a Classified without the PCI-E power molex onboard should get one for free, not just because its their top of the line board but they sold it off the back of all its PCI-E slots and filling them with Tri-SLI and PhysX, something I cant currently do.

I just hope all those claiming to be happy to buy one dont register for the puny amount of free ones, leave those for the people who really shouldnt have to pay or dont want to.

If I do miss out I sure as hell better be able to buy one with my EVGA bucks which will also cover the shipping.

Sorry dude, not meaning to antagonize you in any way, but much of that was covered on the original thread.

- Yes there are other manufacturers with the same issue. EVGA is the ONLY one to do something about it.

- The 759 & 760 boards were released before the graphic cards came out that seem to most be causing this problem, so no, EVGA did not intentionally release a board with a potential fire hazard at the time, because those GPU cards did not exist at the time. Of course there's an argument for EVGA planning ahead for these cards, but that's subjective only.

EVGA have already sent out a bunch of adapters but I don't know how many exactly.. I would imagine prerequisites for a free one would be a registered board and cards. I do agree that anyone with a registered board should be contacted by email and offered one for free IF they also have the GPU configuration known to be at risk of this issue.

Hope that helps clarify a few points you brought up. Good luck.

p.s. I for one will not register for a free one - I don't own those cards yet, but I'm ok to pay for one if it's not too pricey. I imagine EVGA will issue them at cost, so I can't see them being priced very high at all.

Thats not entirely true, there have been reports of this happening with 2 GTX 285's an a PhysX card, the 200, If i remember right the GTX 280 was released around/before the X58 chipset release.  EVGA claimed that you could run Tri SLI with a PhysX card with this board.

I do find i rather odd though that the issue didnt become totally apparent until the 400 series release but the person who reported it seems to be a trustworthy member of the forum, it may have been a freak occurrence.

I would have agreed with you and not said anything if EVGA had not hastily posted that when these bulk of these things were available you would be able to request one for free for a limited time.

Is there any chance of this happening with a single gpu?? i have a x58 ftw3 and gtx580 and the cpu and gpu are both overclocked no problems yet but makes me worry about it. missed out on the giveaway so was just thinking about buying one but if its not going to affect me then i might just let it go.

Edit just checked my voltages out idle my 12v is 12.04 under load with oc scanner is 11.89. hmmm might have to get one but $20 it expensive for it.

^ I put one on my 760 with a 580, I will NOT be putting one on my 762 with a 580 ( it has the additional power adapter ) , I will Not sign up for a free one ( one free is more than fair, Let the rest of the community have a shot, ) I will be buying two more once they are available for my 758, and 759. one has 2(295's) the other doesn't need it with what it has, but I know myself well enough that ,it will need it sooner or latter.

$20 is a bit to much for just a power adapter $5-$10 or if you have a evga board you can get one for free because once word gets out that this is out there ppl will flood evga with money to get one for their boards.

If they are giving free, they should give for all the customers registered with them.... Otherwise make everyone pay for it.

Selecting few customers and conducting lotteries..will make EVGA loose customers and people will end up in frustration.

what was the point of creating this list in the thread, and when you go to the page it tells you "out of stock" " Promotion ended"? Wasn't that the understanding of creating this list here?  I was 51's on the list too.
