Well since you already have yours I tend to think that your opinion doesn't count. I'm not trying to be rude just stating the obvious. I have supported EVGA since their inception, but this last deal has definately left a bad feeling. I bought one of their original AMD boards and deault with all the bull**** involved..ie it's not a Jetaway...I'm pretty much done with EVGA and all the favortism..at this point I feel like I got screwed and paid for it.  NOT A HAPPY CAMPER

Man, this is astonishing!!  KMcCrackan post a valid point and the next poster flys right in and states:  "EVGA didn't have to supply anyone with a powerboost or free one, so be thankful they produced one."
That's bullcrap!!!  EVGA is a profitable worldwide company, and they SHOULD distribute these things in such a way that doesn't burden its customer base.  I work at a state prison clocking over 9 hours a day, and if I even look at a Barney video on the net I'm thrown into an investigation.  So now, I have to wait and worry that this mod isn't posted at 9 a.m., because if it is, all 75 will probably be gone by the time I get home 9+ hours later.  This is not right!!
Of course, jrmitchell1983 doesn't have to worry, he was one of the "chosen" ones and got his first.
This whole mod distribution process comes straight from a comic book!

dude what is your problem? my point is very valid my friend, do you see any other company producing such an item? that answer is NO. EVGA did not have to produce this powerboost in anyway what so ever IMO. They did however because EVGA is one of the few that care about customer service IMO. Yes i recieved my powerboost and am very greatful towards evga for doing so. where you work makes no difference and is irrelevant in this thread. IMO there are alot of things not right bud, understand this - EVGA did not have to provide this fix, they did not have to give it away for free and they should be appreciated IMO for what they have done for its customers. Valid points are welcome its a public forum, however my points are indeed facts.

It has nothing to do with favorism...lol  the first to report, research and resolve the issue where the ones that received them first IMO.

Thank you for your support!!  Soo many people on these forums are readers only and are afraid to speak, in fear of being blacklisted or verbally spat upon/publicly embarrassed.  However, I fear no man's verbal intimidation and will speak my mind.

EVGA should make these mods free to all those who have purchased this defective product.  Automakers are smart when they have recalls and don't ask for a dime from their customers; it's called repeat business.  EVGA should follow suit!!

Some people cast a blind eye to their obvious fanboy-ism and forget that EVGA only does whats best for their business model.  EVGA isn't your friend/pal/chum, they are a business whose sole intention is to turn a profit.  They may go beyond what other companies provide in customer support; however, that is one of the elements which has created a successful  business model.  By providing a PCIex Mod they are creating positive PR as well as reducing future losses in revenue through RMAs and negative PR.

It's aggravating only a few will receive the mod for free.  Some of us can't be on the pc 24 hours a day to sign-up.

Once in a while you have to state the facts....it's going to hurt some people but thats what life is about. If i feel slided I'll scream to intice the enemy to come closer:)  All aside I really appreciate the support and hopefully EVGA comes thru for the working man who has supported them longer than the ********* fanboys. If I offended EVGA staff well you know what I have stated is true.

Alright everyone.

I'm going to make a general warning that if this flaming continues, the Mod team may have to resort to handing out warnings.

A heated conversation can still be civil, and without naming anybody specific, this can very well be done without any foul or hurtful language.

All viewpoints are acknowledged and encouraged on the EVGA Forums. However, this flexibility ends when members start flaming each other, which is against the TOS.

Hey EVGA - do you have a price on the adapter yet?
For those getting worked up about it, if it's only a few dollars, is that really such a big problem?

I was guessing $9.99 with free shipping, same as an SLI bridge.

BTW - received SLI bridge from EVGA today, thanks. Came in a 6"x6"x3" box with packaging peanuts.. amazingly good packaging for such a small item. To be honest, a bubble envelope probably would have been fine though (and cheaper for EVGA).

I would like to be added to the the list for the mod please. I am perfectly happy to purchase 1 for now. After folks have what they need I would like to buy 1 more for a spare.  Been waiting to upgrade to sli 580's until this mod is available.

As the other mods have stated, our issue is not with your or anyone else's viewpoint; it's with the language that members are posting in the this thread.  Feel free to state your opinion, and feel free to state it loudly.  We will not censor your views.  We will, however, edit language that does not comply with the TOS.

EVGA_JacobF

Hi guys,

Just to give a heads up on what will happen here.

Next week we will announce the Power Boost officially, the first 75 users to sign up on our page, and have a registered qualifying product, will receive it free of charge. (Europe, Canada and US)

After that it will be available for purchase on the EVGA store.

Not good at all EVGA 75 is a laughable amount.  Is that 75 to cover the US, Canada and Europe?  If its 75 per region thats still a laughable amount but it sure beats the hell out of 75 in total for all 3 regions.

I dont like companies going back on their word, EVGA said these would be available to all with a compatible board for a limited time not in a limited quantity and a limited quantity is not available for all, thats available for the first 75.

If anything you should have set a time limit to get them free, even a couple of days but to set a measly 75 limit is very stingy.  You didnt make these things for no reason, you know there is a problem with your boards and a fire hazard at that, everyone with a compatible board should be given one for free.

If I miss out on the free 75 and these things are more than 1p or 1 cent plus postage I will not be a happy camper.

This could have been a PR coup that you just turned into something negative. I was redy to sing EVGA's praises from the highest mountain when I thought these things would be available to all who registered for one during a limited time span (I am not talking a few hours or 1 day but atleast 2 days, ideally 5 days) but the measly 75 number you have put forward has left a bad taste in my mouth.

Why do people knock evga for helping its members? patience...
would you appreciate it if someone you did a favor for was ungrateful about it?

releasing a board with a potential fire hazard and then charging you for the fix is not doing you a favour.  If EVGA thought that they had the choice whether to address this issue with a fix or not (and thus doing us a favour by doing so) then I would be really concerned about EVGA's business ethics and care for its customer base.  24-Pin power adapters melting is not something you can just ignore.  Have there been reports about any other companies boards 24-pin power connectors melting if you use certain card configurations? (I googled EVGA 24 pin power connector melt and got hits, did the same for ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte NO hits)

Anyone with a registered board and registered cards that could cause a problem should get one for free

Anyone with a Classified without the PCI-E power molex onboard should get one for free, not just because its their top of the line board but they sold it off the back of all its PCI-E slots and filling them with Tri-SLI and PhysX, something I cant currently do.

I just hope all those claiming to be happy to buy one dont register for the puny amount of free ones, leave those for the people who really shouldnt have to pay or dont want to.

If I do miss out I sure as hell better be able to buy one with my EVGA bucks which will also cover the shipping.

I am sure you will get an official response but I would think they will have an announcement that will feature at the sites homepage (like usual announcements) that will let you register for one if your signed in and have a compatible board registered or lead you to where you can sign up if you click on it.

I am not that happy about having to buy one as its obvious there is a power issue when i run 2 GTX 295's in Quad SLI and a GTX 285 for PhysX, my FPS and benchmark scores drops by a noticeable amount, I am just glad I noticed that and removed the GTX 285 as I may have came across this melting issue myself.

I have no problem with these units being limited in some way but to put forward a number like 75 is ridiculous when you thin about how many people own EVGA boards and that the 75 likely has to cover 3 countries.  A limited time period, 2 to 5 days, to register would have been much more appropriate.

I just hope I can use my EVGA bucks to buy one and I hope for those who dont have many EVGA bucks that EVGA dont stick an equally ridiculous price tag on them.

+1

I love EVGA and I am usually very happy with their customer service but I don't feel this is right. If a product is malfunctioning a company has a responsibility to rectify the situation. Like others have stated if your car has been recalled in anyway, simply take it to the manufacturer and they will fix it for free. I feel this is a similar situation, if your motherboard has a potential risk of melting or even catching fire (Even if chances are minimal) a company has an obligation to fix the issue. Considering the cost of most of EVGA's boards I feel it should be no question that they should provide this mod free of charge to all of its customers that can potentially be effected.

Sorry dude, not meaning to antagonize you in any way, but much of that was covered on the original thread.

 - Yes there are other manufacturers with the same issue. EVGA is the ONLY one to do something about it.

 - The 759 & 760 boards were released before the graphic cards came out that seem to most be causing this problem, so no, EVGA did not intentionally release a board with a potential fire hazard at the time, because those GPU cards did not exist at the time. Of course there's an argument for EVGA planning ahead for these cards, but that's subjective only.

EVGA have already sent out a bunch of adapters but I don't know how many exactly.. I would imagine prerequisites for a free one would be a registered board and cards. I do agree that anyone with a registered board should be contacted by email and offered one for free IF they also have the GPU configuration known to be at risk of this issue.

Hope that helps clarify a few points you brought up. Good luck.

p.s. I for one will not register for a free one - I don't own those cards yet, but I'm ok to pay for one if it's not too pricey. I imagine EVGA will issue them at cost, so I can't see them being priced very high at all.

Thank you for posting this. However I have few questions. Why cant be this thread and all who signed be added. What the difference. The information you seeking is all here. The count is already at 65. Or just transfer those people to your thread if its possible.
Second why only 75 count limit. As Molten adequately put it you originally said it will be free for limited time not quantity. On 10th year of buisness 100 1000 or 10 000 would be more appropriate number.

To all: once again Lets not get6 this locked please as it still might serve the purpose. Post you specs. If you feel that you want to leave a comment or ask a question please do it in a polite fashion. It'll get you further in life more then any other way.
Just a story: You go and buy top of the line car. (I just like to think that EVGA top of the line manufacturer) And you like all the specs. Here you bought it. By a matter of a chance you never pushed it to its limit. You get together with a friend who bought same car. He tells you that its great car as long as you dont go over 180. Cause if you will the wheels will fall of. He also tells you that Manufacturer came up with this new Pedal you can purchase fo n amount of dollars that fixes this bug so you can run it at full potential.
Quick math here Lets say EVGA mod cost 10$. I payed 450$ for the board (it was 500 with all the cost but lets say 450) 10$ would be almost 2% of the Mobo cost. If above mentioned Car manufacturer would use same price method you would be paying almost 1000$ for that silly pedal so you car can run as it should to begin with. I don't know any car company that would even do that. If they dare it would fail miserably.

As having Masters in Economics and Management. I can tell you this
When EVGA puts price 450$ on a cirtain part.
usually it breaks down like this

Manufacturing cost, Shipping and handling, Advertisement, Amortization and Profit.
Amortization is a absolutely necessary part of the cost. It includes future expense of RMA and Part replacement. Due to normal failure rate. There is certain % that will need fixes regardless how good the manufacturing process is. Normal practice is to estimate that number than double it for safety.
Thus average cost of RMA is (shipping alone is 10$ plus free labor depending on a damage another 20$-60$) around 50$. Which you pay shipping one way. (Give its a A1 product with lifetime warranty).
So for all who wonder. Yes you already payed the price of the molex mod when you bought any motherboard that needs such a fix.

In the past EVGA found the way hoe to turn its week sides to a benifit. I want to see its happening again. Nice Christmas Box with PowerBoost  from EVGA to all customers would be one of the ways. Or opening a page From December 25 2010 till January 1st 2001 for a free request of the part.would be the other way.
Im sure there is more ways and ideas. Any way would be better then breaking you own customer base into two camps who will constantly fight.
To EVGA
I hope EVGA is not 100% on that move that Jacob described and will reconsider. 75 units. Its a joke. 750$ total maybe. I feel that you give away more in Blue Ribbons  in one month.
Think about all the Glory that EVGA would get later if you make a right move. I understand that you might think that those 75 will always protect you interest since you bought em in so to speak. But think about those 100s that will turn cold shoulder on you and all the customers you might lose.
My Mom always use to say that one spoon of tar can ruin that whole Barrel of Honey. Think about it.

Thanks to all for reading. I hope its not to long and understandable. My writing skills a far inferior to my Verbal English. So Im sorry in advance if something is out of hand or inappropriate.
