I just ordered one of these last Saturday from Newegg! Should be here today. What I would like to see EVGA do is at least offer the FTW owners like myself, a backplate at 25%-50% off the $19.99 price. After all if they included it, it would be more than 419.00. Your getting the FTW card@the SC price atm :)

I don't understand why you don't just mass produce the 680 backplate without the imprint. Not only would this eliminate having to manage inventory on two separate part#s but you would probably save on manufacturing costs and the frustration of customers.
Don't know about the rest of the owners here, but I could care less about having the imprint on the model card I have on the backplate. Anyone care to chime in?
Anyways, just my $.02 and maybe something to think about in the future so these types of issues are less likely to occur.

Jacob answered earlier in the thread and it sounds like EVGA doesn't produce the backplate at all. Many times they have to buy in large quantities but he said they were trying to figure something out to make it work.
You can use any GTX 680 waterblock on the GTX 670 FTW. I am running EK 680 blocks on mine. The GTX 670 FTW is literally identical to the reference GTX 680 except it has 1 of the 8 clusters disabled in the chip. Other than that the cards are the same component wise.
Jacob, any update on the backplates for these?

I should have been more detailed. When I said ".....save on manufacturing costs" this was implied that they would spend less money on having another company manufacture two separate products. Hell if you think about it, remove the imprint and it would probably cost them even less to have produced (lets not forget a possible price break for high qtys ordered since they would fit both 680 and 670) Guess my old days of being in product development and marketing for a manufacturer are coming out :/
I'm sure they will figure it out.

You know what guys. I'm getting the 680 backplate. Can't be bothered to wait. Even if it's gonna be made it'll take weeks.
The card's backplate will be facing down anyways so I don't care as long as it protects and cools the naked backplate on the belly of my gorgeous EVGA GTX 670 FTW.
Peace dudes and enjoy waiting because I didn't.

I purchased, modified logo and installed a EVGA GTX 680 backplate on my EVGA GTX 670 FTW.
Note 1) The "680" logo is some kind of paint.
Note 2) My EVGA GTX 670 FTW had all phillips screws, so No T6 Torx needed to remove "stock" screws.
Note 3) I was able to carefully scrape away paint from the backplate and now the 680 logo says 670. If you cut deep you will go through the black anodized layer to the base aluminum.

Yeah it looks more clean cut. Simple but classic. They should make all backplates like that instead displaying the model # like this one.

Yeah, acetone really isn't aggressive enough. I've used it on aluminum cases with not a lot of success. Took forever to get the power, hd, etc icons removed.
Although I have to say it works well against glue on plastics.

So stock 680 GTX backplate  Plus less than 1/2 hour careful work.  It was quick and could be improved on; but, I wanted to get the system back together. It will have to do until EVGA comes out with one or I decide to spend more time on this one. Notice that in the Cooler Master 932 HAF case it looks pretty good.  Besides it is hard to see with the case side on because of the tinted windows location without auxiliary lighting. EVGA GTX 670 ...e in case

 That looks nice man. I couldn't even tell the difference at a distance. You should upload a tutorial on how do get that end result. I might try it out. P.s My 680 backplate arrived today but on the belly of my 670 ftw there are a few white stickers with bar codes etc. Is it ok if I leave the stickers there and just put the backplate on straight away?

Thanks for your kind words ObserverJLin, Your EVGA warranty is VOID if you remove the serial number sticker. As the direction from EVGA do not expressly say to remove any stickers from the card, I left all of them as they where. Just removed the plastic from the outside top of the backplate before mounting.
