Didn't read this whole thread;
But you guys know FTW Edition uses 680 PCB, so the backplate fits and looks completely natural, and there is no reason for a 670 FTW backplate? As it is the same PCB as a 680...hence...they do not need to...and it would be stupid to do so...
Though if it would please you people...they could just double list it and rename one as a 670 FTW Backplate.

Yes that has been discussed ad nauseum in the thread.
Nobody wants to put a backplate that advertises GTX 680 on their 670. It's that simple. My 3 cards will remain without a backplate until one that can advertise the correct model is released.

Despite being a troll, obviously there is something wrong with it or there wouldn't be a petition. It's like if you had a front end replaced on a car, but instead of an OEM front end, they took the front end off of a different make's car that fits. So one side will say one make, and the other side, what it should be. A lot of people wouldn't like that.

If I don't get one then that's fine. Life will go on. A) I'm not sure why you're so concerned with other enthusiasts desires. There's 4 pages of people that have signed it, so there's obviously plenty of interest despite the fact that you don't deem it necessary. B) There has not been a single official release announcing that the GTX 670 FTW backplate will not exist. I'd sure read a link to the release if you have it though. C) There is something wrong with the backplate that exists, and that is that it doesn't display the correct model. I don't know why the fact that I don't want a GTX 680 backplate on my GTX 670 makes me an idiot. Do you put Intel stickers on your AMD systems or visa versa? How about AMD stickers on your nVidia system? Should I slap an Enermax sticker on my case even though I have a Seasonic power supply? Should I stick a Core i3 sticker over my Core i7 sticker? I'm sorry, and please excuse my french mods, but why in the hell would I put a part in my system with a logo for a part that I have never owned? Not only is a GTX 680 not in my PC or never been in my PC, it never will be in my PC. So for me to put a backplate in my machine that advertises GTX 680 ... that, to me, is idiocy.

I just ordered 670 FTW to piece new desktop (I owned gaming laptops for last 7 years), and I would like to know what is the benefit of adding backplate to the 670 ftw.
It's basically a metal shield that you screw onto the back of your card. Benefits include lower temps (by about 3c on average), protection for the PCB components, and general aesthetic value.
I would also like to add that adding a backplate adds another value. Handling the card when installing. I had a couple cards without backplates RMA'd because i accidentaly knocked off one of the tiny square resistors on its back when I was removing the card from the case.

suppose if it really came down to it id still be happy if the back plates were just black with no writing  just dont look right having 680 on a non 680 card ...maybe its just me

Yeah I have my computer case turned away from me so I can't see inside the window and see the 680 back plate...when the 670FTW comes out, I will spend another $25 and get the right one. and turn my computer where I can happily see my card.

Well why is it I often see videos of people placing their GPU's vertically rather than horizontally? (The motherboard is facing upwards thus the GPU is vertical i.e "|" rather than "---".)

How much should I expect to pay to get a backplate for 670 ftw? (Why didn't they include it like they did with 680 ftw?)
I understand the evga gtx 680 back plate is compatible with evga's gtx 670 ftw right?
Or even better is there a 670 Classified scheduled for release?
Also a question out of curiosity. What is the difference between 690 and 690 signature?

Backplates sold separately are usually $19.99 USD.
There is no information about a GTX 670 Classified. I would say due to the massive popularity of the series that they will, but I have no idea if they actually will.
The addition that you get with the GTX 690 Signature is you get a T-Shirt and a few other tidbits. There is no boost in clock speeds or any perfomance gains.

Sry for noob question but "Classified" versions by EVGA mean it's the best right? So the line up is like this? From Vanilla, SC, FTW then Classified to Classified Hydro Cooper?
So if EVGA decide to release a GTX 670 Classified does that mean it'll have even better cooling with even higher clock speeds?

Classified's are for the serious overclockers, the voltage modified, liquid or better cooling, more power phases, and the ability to add the evbot for serious voltage regulation. The hydro coppers actually arent based off the classifieds but the FTW cards... at least thats the case in the 680's. Classified's are the top end in terms of features.
That being said, ive got a 670FTW and its ASIC quality is already 100% so doesnt get any better that way, maybe just better voltage regulation (already great) and a vapor chamber cooler perhaps for the classified if they ever decided to make one.
