My Z270 classified k has 4 intel sata ports and 4 Marvell sata ports. When I enable the Marvell controller in bios my computer takes a long time to boot up. I need at least 4 total sata ports along with 1 nvme slot. My nvme drive is installed on the bottom slot. For some reason I thought this is where it had to go to be nvme capable. But this disables 2 of the intel ports. Making me have to use the Marvell ports. Is the top m.2 slot a nvme capable slot that will run just as fast as the bottom slot with my Samsung 950 evo?

Do you have the capability in the BIOs to turn off one or more of the marvell sata ports? This might free up resources to allow your Intel ports and NVMe to work fine.

Does it matter what slot? the top or bottom?...put it on the bottom in case you need to take it out....the top slot on these look like there allll right under the gpu..then you gotta take that out to get to it.  This one I guess older one have to set stuff to Legacy mode but it found it, a pny one. Need another one Id raid them...

the top slot is shared with the U.2 port, you need to select in the bios for m.2_1 to enable, m.2_2 to disable, this will give you all your sata and pcie ports but the bottom m.2 will not work.

Problem solved. Top and bottom M.2 are the same speed capable.
