Will post lots of Pics, going all EVGA, divorced from ASUS Wanted to go a different route this time, the current TT is way too big and heavy, stay tuned if Interested. The Finish result. Running smooth, great OC Monster, got some Hynix A-die Ram stable at 8000MHz, would do 8200 but it was a little shaky. All in all, by far the best MOBO I have. Edit Cool GTX fixed images

It's gonna get packed in here lol With the 13900k installed what's the best way to update the Bios to 2.10 any other suggestions maybe? Going to be on 2 separate loops, still waiting on my pumps, these are old ones. Block should arrive today.

I haven't put 2.10 on, but I did update to 2.05. There have been too many weird bugs and complains on Classified for every BIOS version since then for me to risk it. I've been trying to take a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" approach to BIOS updates lol. Anyway, I've successfully flashed two of my BIOS slots with the 13900k already installed by doing the flashback approach (I haven't tried the third, that one is vanilla stock from the factory lol). I downloaded the latest BIOS to a USB drive (a 1GB one I think...the one that came with my motherboard has failed). I took the .bin file and renamed it to EVGAE698.bin (yours should be EVGAE699.bin, as I have the Classy, not the Dark) and put it in the root of the USB drive (not one folder deep as it normally downloads). Then with the system powered down and that USB stick in the motherboard's USB flash port, held the BIOS flash button on the back of the motherboard I/O panel while the LED counted down and let go after ~5 seconds when it was in the spinning circle. It then ran and did that for several minutes. It then booted up into BIOS 2.05. I had everything plugged in.

Thanks B0b Ima give it a shot, if the bios brigs I got 2 more to select I guess lol. After checking Luumis and others on youtube it should work ok. I just don't want to spend another $100 on a 12th. gen cpu just to update the bios.

I like the look of the setup in the Thermal Take case I like ASUS, just don't like the pricing.... Now it looks like EVGA is going the route of only ultra premium... leaves me out of both brands. Thankfully Asrock, Gigabyte, & MSI still make decently priced stuff.

Detleg Now onto the 3090 backplate install. Removing old thermal pads, cleaning and adding new pads. I don't know why the 3pin was disconnected, could not find any info on it.

snip That 3-pin, on right side is a LED

So back to the build, some of the Thermal Pads are a PITA, for your own health get yourself a pair of tweezers with pointy tips. Cleaned all old and excess TP with a q-tip and later with some 99% IPA. Do not use sharp metal or cut TP on the pcb. Place tp according to your manual, thickness and location, don't forget to remove the protective cover of the TP on both sides, those tweezers helped a lot. Try not to push down on the TP once in place. I used Thermal Grizzly and some other brand, on the Backplate it was 1.0mm, 1.5mm and 2.0mm I loosen the 3 screws on the mainblock a little bit so you have some wiggle room installing the backplate, make sure that the oval O-rings stay in place. Lastly I pushed down on the block a bit to insert the long screws on the block and finished tightening the backplate on top with the small phillips screws. The Kicker was that the backplate is to big for the Z690 Dark Kingpin to fit in the 1st. pcie slot. You can either mount it vertical or you can use the bottom pcie slot still running x16. I will try to modify but haven't thought of any other ways yet. TBC

You won’t lose any noticeable performance at x8 though, so it shouldn’t hurt anything.
Both of the 3090’s did run very cool with the standard backplates on, and good airflow in the case, if you decide to go with that. The backplate does wick away some of the heat from the vram, so it is an option.

Hey Scott I might have a solution ;) Post #4 https://forums.evga.com/FindPost/3599171 Well nevermind, even when I stripped the furniture, it wasn't going to fit without me trimming the fins, which of course I won't lol

That's what I have to do for now since the A-Backplate won't fit into top PE, even with a Riser which I'm taking to work today and modify it.
