Problem resolved:
1. Installed in bottom PCIe 16x slot
2. Disabled C-States in the UEFI
Explanation in post #8

Just installed my Nu Audio Pro and surround card and cant seem to get any sound out of my headphones. The card itself powers up just fine, audible power click with the rgb working fully and its got the latest v1.0.2 driver installed.
I don't get any errors of any sort from the software. I've gone through and made sure in Windows that the audio output device is set to 'Speakers (EVGA Nu Audio Pro)' while using the 6.3mm to 3.5mm jack to connect my headphones to the back of the card.
I've also double checked all physical power connections (unplugging and plugging back in) including reseating the card in the PCIE slot.  My motherboard only has PCIE x4 lanes instead of x1 lanes available if that should even matter.
Not sure what else to try, just looking to get the headphones to work.

System specs:
CPU: I7 9700k
MB: NZXT Z390
Ram: Corsair Vengeance 3600MHz
PSU: Corsair HX 850
OS: Windows 10 Home 64bit

Did you enable the headphones in the NU Audio Control Panel? That click that you here on power on tells me that you at the very least have it configured to output to the speakers (they are what makes the click). If you go into the NU Audio Pro software you should see where it says 'playback' on the main window make sure that the icon for the headphones is selected, this determines audio output. Also make sure that you have the volume set correctly for the headphones... After enabling the headphones as a playback device you will need to click on the image of the headphones, this will change the volume slider to say 'headphones' at this point you will be able to adjust the sound levels. What kind of earphones are you using? I would recommend starting out with the volume very low and gradually turn it up so that you dont damage your earphones/ears.

I did exactly that for activating the headphone icon and volume when i was familiarizing myself with the software.  I've played with the volume anywhere from 5-25% and higher, with only the headphone icon on and not the speaker icon.  For the meantime (while i wait for a better set of headphones to arrive) I'm using a set of Hyperx Cloud 2 headphones which surprisingly have a 60ohm impedance according to the Kingston datasheet. The main thing I'm noticing is if i have the Hyperx Cloud 2's plugged into their USB dongle and i play a FLAC file off my computer using the windows groove music app they start playing immediately. But if i try playing it with the Nu Audio Pro the music doesn't play and goes into an indefinite 'searching' mode.  Similarly, if i try to play music off of Youtube the video freezes for a significant amount of time and will eventually start playing, but no volume will appear.

One more thing, I have the 'Bar-A' and 'Bar-B' RGB zones set to sonic reactive and they light up fine when i set the lighting on them, but they don't light up if i try playing any music.

    Update:
If i start a Youtube video right at the very begginning i can sometimes get about a quarter of a second of audio to play, but then it cuts out immediately.  The RGB zones do light up for this amount of time when it plays a fraction of a second of audio.  It seems like something software wise is going on, preventing the card from playing.

I think that your audio playback issues may be the result of your Kingston Cloud 2 Headphones. According to the specifications listed here, https://www.hyperxgaming.com/datasheets/HSCP_en.pdf, the headset connects via a Mini 3.5mm 4-Pole audio cable translation a TRRS connector. I know from talking with EVGA over on this post, https://forums.evga.com/NU-Audio-Pro-Mic-Port-m3032161.aspx, that the microphone port on the NU Audio Pro is a TRS port I would assume that the headphone port is also TRS? Also I dont think that they make 3.5mm TRRS to 1/4 adapters... My assumption at this point would be your headset is not going to work with the NU Audio Pro.

Ok, just received my Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 250 ohm headphones and I'm having the same issue. I'll get about one second of audio before it cuts out and stops producing sound.

Re: No Sound from Headphones With Nu Audio Pro 2020/11/08 11:48:59 (permalink)
I just wanted to make an update to this thread, as I made another attempt recently to get the $300 dollar brick in my computer to function with complete success. Previously, I had only been trying the PCIe 4x slots on my motherboard, as the PCIe 1x slot is inaccessible due to my NH-D15 CPU cooler covering it. So, I figured I'd just try installing the Nu Audio Pro card into the bottom PCIe 16x slot (this should technically downgrade both 16x slots to 8x, but oh well). Much to my surprise at this point, it was finally able to produce sound through my headphones! Albeit, there was an occasional 1/4 second dropout/stutter in the audio every once in a while and anything other than the 16bit 44100hz setting would make it worse.  I even messed with the ASIO buffer size to help mitigate the issue. But, that wasn't able to eliminate it, just minimize it. So, I did some more research on the possible cause which lead me to a thread in this forum that mentioned going into the UEFI and disabling C-States. After doing this the audio dropout issue went away completely and I'm now able to play any bit depth and sample rate without an issue.

After the recent Windows 10 update I had the same problem.  I had to deselect the speakers in the software.

Keep in mind that disabling c-states isn't without some consequence. Your CPU will not be entering lower power states and therefore will be using more power and consequently generating a bit more heat and the effects that come from that (CPU longevity, etc.). Some, albeit mostly older CPUs, actually throttle down when c-states are disabled. Disabling c-states is neither a good long-term workaround, nor "fix" for real driver/hardware issues, I'm afraid.

While I 100% agree, I have online ever seen 1 CPU fail when I worked at a computer store

The rear headphone port has never worked on my card.

However, the front port works fine, so I use that.
