So I just got my RMA replacement psu. It's nice to have a working power supply now, but the rma unit fan is way louder than my original. I have a 1000w GQ. The new one is a GQ as well. What should I do?
It's nice to have a working psu now but defeats the purpose of the GQ model I bought it for. Literally 2 months into owning a EVGA and sort of unhappy with the results.

Could just be a low end -v- high end power supply. Is your ECO Switch On or Off? On turns off the Fan. I would have gone with the EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 G2, 80+ GOLD 1000W, Fully Modular, 10 Year Warranty, Includes FREE Power On Self Tester Power Supply 120-G2-1000-XRor the EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 G3, 80 Plus Gold 1000W, Fully Modular, Eco Mode with New HDB Fan, 10 Year Warranty, Includes Power ON Self Tester, Compact 150mm Size, Power Supply 220-G3-1000-X1as better choice IMO.

Yes I understand this I should have paid extra $40 but the fact is the RMA unit is louder like they replaced the fan but didn't use the quiet fan

Is your ECO Switch On or Off? Is the Fan Facing Up or Facing Down?

Keep the ECO Switch Off. With the Power OFF on the PSU Push the Fan Down and allow to return back up 5 or 6 times. You will need two toothpicks to do this, one on each side of the Fan Center NOT ON THE FAN BLADES. Power back on and then repeat the above 2 or 3 times.

Contact EVGA about a cross-ship replacement. That way your not without a system for over a week. You paid good money for the power supply, you shouldn't have to do this and that and then to get it work like it should.

That is a legitimate point, BUT, Think I'd waste a few minutes trying bcavnaugh's suggestion rather than jumping straight to - more lost time via shipping, PLUS a charge and refund to now watch over, a delivery date, a trip to UPS for return drop off, etc...

After running the psu for a few days and then moving it so fan is vertical the fan has quieted down.
