Ahhhahahahhhahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just read at PCPer:

7900X - 1000$ (10/20)
7920X - 1200$ (12/24)
7940X - 1400$ (14/28)
7960X - 1700$ (16/32)
7980X - 2000$ (18/36) Two Thousands  2000 USD

So long X299. I'm not that daft to even consider it*. Was hoping that i9 7900 will come at somewhat more reasonable** 800$, but noooo..... Let's wait and see what AMD brings to the table.

* - not saying never if some deal comes around
** - yeah I know, Intel and reasonable in same sentence is a perfect oxymoron.

I "might" go for the 7820x 8 core.  Price is about the same as the 5930K, which was six core.  One could hope that AMD's new processors are at least equivalent...then the game becomes more interesting.  I was all for X299 but then AMD entered with all the new processors and I am not 100% sure which way to go.  I want the best price/performance.

MSI MAG X670-E Tomahawk;  Ryzen 7 7800X3D; Asus TUF RTX 4070 TI OC; Seasonic Vertex GX-1000 PSU; 32 GB  Corsair Vengeance DDR5-6000 RGB; Corsair iCue Link H150i RGB 360MM AIO; 2-Western Digital Black 4 TB SN850X NVMe; Creative SoundBlaster Z;  Lian Li Lancool III; EVGA Z15 Keyboard; Razer Viper 8K Mouse

8 core is important and for me.
I mean 10 cores would be better but if frequency is 4.5GHz.
Not 3.5 GHz.
Everything depend from AMD.
Investing in 10-12-14 cores is waste of money for games.
OK, everyone want to escape from 4 cores, but 8 is max for gaming.
Many months will pass before half games on market recognize 8 cores.
Everything else is absurd. What Intel and AMD didn't done nothing to make some bigger jump in performance, example 200-300-400% with some new revolutionar design similar to GDDR5 > HBM and now they want to sell Xeons types to enthusiasts and only to increase core numbers.

Re: New X299 Series Motherboards 2017/05/30 12:16:54 (permalink)
These new EVGA boards are great, Dark is amazing, FTW K perfect motherboard layout.
It's sin because they didn't build angled 24 pin on FTW K, both are E-ATX format.
X299 FTW K would be great inside Mac G5 Case and 1080Ti Hybrid graphic cards.
This is beast, we didn't had chance to see something like this from EVGA 2-3 years...
And he is perfectly optimized with EVGA graphic cards and iCX coolers and maybe even FTW3 Hybrid will go in that direction.
Both boards fit with GPU, FTW K more with Hybrids and Dark more with iCX.

FTW K need angled 24 pin, but I know what they thought, some people always want natural and they could choose FTW K board.
It's bad because Micro no small PCI-E connector...  People with dedicate sound card will need 44 lanes CPU.
Nice EVGA, nice.

Really excited for X299 but the thing that stands out to me to most is that this round of EVGA motherboards actually look good for a change!

I still do not like them, but I admit they do look better than the X99s.

Has it been released? No. Wait until people own it so they can answer your question.

this makes me excited because maybe the x99 boards will come down in price. my 5930k suits me perfectly still.

I would like a a board upgrade to get some newer features without having to spend 500.  i want that asus edition 10 board but not for the price hopefull ill find one used now on the cheap ...

Asus RED10 on paper looks interesting (and it ended right here for me), but it has probably worst lane split of all X99 boards which disables ports or slots depending on what you want to use. It's utter nonsense. For the price  it should offer superior connectivity above all else not to shaft it to the degree where board for 1/3rd he price will do equally well (like cheap-o MSI Plus models or whatever is the name).

Going into my Budget for Next Tax Year 2018.
In the end I should be able to replace both my X79 Classified Rigs.
Also by then we should have a Solid Bios.

It is a Different CPU Socket, so we will have to wait and see.
I think it would be pointless for you to upgrade from your Intel® Core™ i7-6950X Processor Extreme Edition at this time.

Sometimes you need a Network Driver so you would need a DVD or Thumb Drive to install on a new OS Install.
Windows 10 Creator had no clue what my MSI Intel Network Card was so I needed the driver from the DVD.
