Anyone else notice the 803X project WUs are seemingly running ~5C cooler (currently running P8031)? Haven't run into any heat issues for the last several day? Maybe I'm finally dialed in?

I havent actually installed the WHQL certified 29x yet. Still running the beta driver on my 460 (why fix whats not broke?) The 250 at work is going to get downgraded though. The 8031 WU's dont tax my GPU to 100% usage. I can game while its folding those WU's surprisingly. Still remains at 70c the whole time.

Nope they are still running, I get a Project 680x unit once in a while but most of time its 803x I hope these 803x continue too the 8K boost between both my GTX 570's is nice. I took my 460 out because of it to save a bit on the power bill.

Due to the heat, I'm kicking my 580s back to stock clocks. They're Zotacs, so I'm still limited to 85% on the fan like a regular 580.

geeez, just started folding this 1st day of new month (i'm a part time folder here) and received those monster WUs!!! I like the PPD boost, but the GPU temps are getting kinda out of control ... my reference 570 vanilla handles them well at ~80C (normally folding around 70C), but my 570 HD card in bottom slot gets cooked by temps (up to 90C) and eventually kills the folding core, because of unstable machine problem ... grrrrrr I also seem to see those WUs on older GTS 250 cards (installed in old cases with poor air flow) and with warm enough ambient some of them result in unstable machine as well.

My temps are also much too high. Can someone tell me step by step how to prevent getting these WUs and how to delete the current ones and to ensure I don't get these again. I am using GPU folding only.

Xavier Zepherious my 570 doesn't get above 60c with the new units are you water cooled? both my GTX 570's are on thier own in seperate systems with no other cards and run in the mid 80c range on these units...

I am using GPU folding only. You can't. They are part of the general pool of workunits, there is no way to stop getting them. all you can do is make sure your card is clean, your cooling up to scratch, and drop your overclock. Pande not giving a crap about it's donors; yet another example.

Well I may have to try stronger cooling fans. My temps are way too high and I've got four fans aimed at my GPUs. They are going well over 90 degrees C. Sometimes 100C. Can't fold with temps that high. That will probably burn up the video cards.

Dial everything back to stock... including any over amping you have done with aftermarket apps. You are correct. Fermi is much less robust where temps are concerned. I have done this already. Temps are down... but so are contributions for ALL other projects. Bottom line.... Less is better than none 'cause of a burnt up card. Arguing with PG over what they do to Donor HW has NEVER worked. If you value what PG does... Deal with it. Unfortunately, it is our choice. PG will never admit the numbers. Fold on. Sean

yeah, when running SC speeds my cards went over 90C too after a few hours (residual heat). however at stock clocks and after I swapped HD vs reference cards, so the warmer HD now sits in primary slot, I never go above 85C, reference usually does not hit more than 75-80C. I also am using a more aggressive auto-fan control in precision, bumping up the fans speeds to 100% whenever temps get past 80C. been folding those WUs for nearly 16 hours, they are not that bad.

I agree, 90C is the limit for myself (on air here) as well. are you running your system with an open case now and cards still getting hot? eprhaps it's your room ambient temp being a problem?

Yeah, it's just too much heat for cards that dump hot air back into the case to keep up with.... especially when there are two cards. Have tired just folding on the bottom card to see how the temps on that card look?

not sure about case cooling you have over there RJ, but I use 2x 1900rpm scythe slipstream fans for intake and currently exhaust is 1x 1900rpm scythe s-flex (same kind plans for intakes too, they are ball bearing type, MUCH more reliable over time) and some 90mm Tt fan behind the hdd cage at the back of case. it seems to be enough for me when I crank the gpu fans to 90%, my current ambient room temp is around 20C though (usually around 26C). 570 HD (primary slot) 83C 570 reference (bottom slot) 77C I can drop those GPU temps further if I let the gpu fans spin at 100% ... I just don't like the noise in return hehe. good luck in solving your GPU temps trouble!

The only solution I have at the moment is to downclock my GPUs to keep the temps down and that is what I am now doing.

yup, use vanilla clocks, SC clocks might be too high to fold those WUs on those cards you have. residual heat build up is the problem, I see it in my HD card over time.

I found out something strange today everyone. I lowered my GPU clocks both memory and processor clocks. When I lowered them to about 1350/1350 the temps came way down. I slowly started to raise the clocks backup and now they are at default levels and the highest temp is 60C for the present WU I am on. However if I click on display that doesn't work. I now believe this is a driver based issue.
