Like we ask people "don't break the bank"

if you can't afford it then don't fold, or fold only what you can afford
or get the message out and help recruitment

this is not about making money - since I lose more money than I earn back in EVGA $$

it's about finding cures and saving lives
that's all that matters

Yeah sure I know that but as you said I'll keep folding as I can... was just posting because I may not get much points some days/weeks whatever.. My main propose here is to find cures since I first start folding as anonymous because I had already some cancer problems in family and maybe there's something I can do? So I started and then joined the team...

Tried FAH v2 and Stanfords FAH v7. I think he was doing something wrong.

Hey Alcatraz, try using the tracker by Jedi. It is pretty easy, if I can do it I know you can! Heres a great guide: http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=219556

if you want EVGA bucks your folding name must match your EVGA name
go to your profile page and write in your folding name at the bottom of your profile

if your Folding name does not match your EVGA name you have to contact EVGA to see if they will take it

you can change your folding name to your EVGA name (just that any points folded under the other will not be counted or moved)

if you plan to FOLD with your CPU doing SMP you will need a passkey
http://folding.stanford.edu/English/FAQ-passkey

you will need to add that to the client you are using

either v7
http://folding.stanford.edu/English/HomePage

or FAH gpu tracker

updates are every 3hrs...
so unless you dropped a WU in that time we won't see it

wait an update or two, or even three before you'll see it
some WU's take 8hrs or more

thanks for the help, my current rig is a i73770k with 2 evga gtx 660ti ftw in sli , i can fold on that, but i was thinking i might want to build a cheap rig i can dedicate 24/7 to folding, could i go with a cheap duo core or an amd and get for example a gtx 460, would that be a decent rig to run this on? i want to stick to used parts i can get from Cregslist and such

With the current state of folding i would wait a month or 2 before you build a dedicated rig. Lower end rigs like your talking use a lot of electricity for little returns. I have 2 like that collecting dust.

Once you meet the requirements for the marketplace here you might find some good gear from more reliable seller than you find on CL.

please dont let me discourage you any either, this is just my opinion. Every client helps and is welcome here. A cheap rig is also good experience(if you break it your not out alot)

welcome to the team

Re:New EVGA Folder Check-IN 2012/10/21 14:28:28 (permalink)
I myself am retiring my q6600 core2 quad core (going to niece as a media/web browser)
It doesn't pay to fold on that for 3k PPD where a 2600k or 3930k does 10x more for about the same power

if you're just into GPU then you want the latest hardware too ...PPD/watt is much better.
But if you have spare dough and want to give and use old hardware I can see some people making use of it and just pay the extra dough on the electricity.

my take is give to those with less and move to newer equipment on a ongoing basis (replacing computer every 3-4 yrs).

also of note
if IVY-E comes out next year with 8 or 10 core then Bigadv will be back on the table for single socket again

I'm about to join the team.  It's mainly for the perks, like bucks, and at least this team talks about issues and problems with clients/work units.    I do like that there are "challenges."

I started Folding with TechIMO in the beginning of the year.   I have done many other projects for XtremePCCentral.   Projects like Find-a-Drug got me into this crunching madness for the last 10 years.   When that project ended I tried out Rosetta, but now I'm still running RC5-72 and OGR-27 for XPC due to the simplicity of the distributed.net clients.    (I seen there is a EVGA team for those also).

So.. yeah..  Hello team EVGA, I'm Carl.

Assuming just changing the team number from.. the 111, to 111065 moves me to the team, I should have some points starting today.

I'm only mainly running Folding@home on my one system.  The older systems, like the i7 920 would need a new video card to get adequate ppd.  The i7 920 only gets 6k ppd, but with a GTX 650Ti running with it, which is the plan soon, even with no Kepler support, the box should do 16k ppd.    I mainly want to just use GPU's for Folding@home, and keep the CPUs on OGR-27.   I'm waiting for full Kepler support in Folding.

I'm going to start folding on my backup rig soon.  It's been almost a decade since i've folded, and that was for forumoc.com a site that no longer exists. '

does my FOH name need to match forum name?

Either way, folding for team 111065.

folding with gpu tracker v2.

just running GPU, i initially started all clients, smp and gpu0, but it locked my folding machine up instantly.
how to get folding stats on my profile to the left??????????

heh, found this:

Okay Noob here just started folding Tuesday for 111065 I have my old rig with a 6950 and 940BE folding 24/7 at about 13,500 PPD and my work laptop is folding one core of a C2D and 8800m gts have no idea what it's PPD is probably somewhere around 4k. My main rig won't fold with the 670 but the i5 will get between 14-16k PPD but I only run it for like 4 hours at a time.

Welcome aboard.

Are you having trouble getting the 670 to fold or are you choosing not to fold on it? Only reason I ask is if you have any questions/problems I'm sure we could lend you hand getting it going.

My computer finds cures for diseases and searches for aliens when I'm not gaming...what does yours do?

No I can't get it to fold I was reading around and they are not supported officially yet so I may just wait on official support.

use v7.2.9 - gpulist is automatically downloaded
use expert mode(right top - beside about)

select config
then select slots tab

then all you have to do is add the gpu slot or edit it
then add the extra slot option for it

on this screen - there are no gpus so you add
if you had a gpu detected or setup already then there will be an edit button

a new pop up will come up

type in
client-type
advanced
