The CPU doesn't matter much if at all in this test. Its a GPU only test.
I re ran test and looked at the CPU usage and it is not being used much at all, I think what I might be seeing is the newer CPUs are also running on PCI 4.0 and I am 3.0 on a riser cable, while fine to run the card, that might be where I am about seeing about - 1.5 FPS at the same clocks on the GPU

That benchmark is all about massively high core clock. I found with my 3090 I could push the core offset at 1093mv or 1100mv quite a bit higher than other benchmarks.

Its much easier to sustain high GPU core clocks in this benchmark. I was able to get an average core clock of over 2,300 MHz on my MSI 3090 with this benchmark.

Had forgotten about this benchmark until this thread popped up again. Gave me an excuse to fire up my new chiller loop. Not quite to the pointy end of this thread, but not too bad. Zotac 3090 Trinity (not KP/EVGA). 66.6 https://www.3dmark.com/dxr/127317

I just did not understand what this test needs to get faster, other than a flat line temperature. 63.48 First run 63.38 next run at higher clock bumping sliders *** 63.27 clock frequency looks better temp worse 63.21 to 24 next 3 runs and one crash. Temp is king

I don't remember what card/cooling you have, but going from 40C to 20C is 2-3% in most GPU intensive benchmarks.

That's what I thought before I looked at more tests, the test right above this is .25 higher than my score, but the clocks are slower, his CPU is running at 5.3 and mine is 5.0, so maybe a little?
0.25 FPS is normal run to run variation.

Most Ray tracing based benchmarks are all about GPU clock speed and VRAM speed. The higher your average GPU clock speed is, the higher your score is. Also VRAM overclocks consistently got me a little extra FPS in this benchmark compared to stock VRAM speeds. Its the same with any GPU only based benchmark. The more pixels your GPU can output, the higher your score is. If you look at my MSI Gaming X Trio chilled water results, you can see that I overclocked the GPU and also overclocked the DRDR6X VRAM. https://www.3dmark.com/dxr/126720It averages 2324 MHz through the entire test and the VRAM as at its maximum stable overclock for this test. That particular card doesn't have great VRAM as far as overclocking goes. However, the VRAM overclock helped increase the score when the GPU wouldn't go any higher because of voltage limitations. That card is limited by voltage because the MSI cards don't have the ability to modify the GPU voltage easily. GPUz indicates that its held back by GPU voltage. The same GPU in a Kingpin board with a mild voltage increase probably would get much higher results. It actually beats the kingpin 3090 cards I've owned because of how high it can clock on stock voltage. So some of it is "silicon lottery" of course. With this benchmark in particular, I ran the same graphics card in both a 6700K system and a 5950X system and the difference in average scores over 3 benchmarks in each system was within normal run to run variation. I don't think the CPU or PCIE speed(3.0 vs 4.0) has a major effect on the results based on that.

If I had a 3090 ti kingpin I could probably beat my current score that was done with a 3090 kingpin. My 3090 ti ftw3 can’t be pushed in this benchmark like a kingpin could.
