yea so i just got my 3090ftwu and it's popping my evga 850w psu mid tests. I hate having to scale the power back. I don't even have an oc on the cpu right now :-( when I got that test to run it was saying 54 fps

Ouch, that's a bummer. Ill have to bring this up to my friend who laughed at me for buying a 1300W PSU a few years ago. "You'll never need that much power!"  That said, come on back after you get it sorted and let us know the results!

Well, this test doesn't hit my 3090 nearly has hard as Port Royal (as evidenced by my very high average GPU clocks). Just under 60 FPS overall for my 3090 FTW3 Ultra (my benchmark OC used, but I didn't go full bore with a clean boot): https://www.3dmark.com/dxr/4438

PS. I Tried getting an EVGA card, but this is what I could get, Gigabyte Gaming OC. No overclocking done as of yet.

Seems like a really weak benchmark compared to port royal.
Port royal = On power limit of 450W hitting temp of 58C.
New benchmark = Card doesnt go over 320W, hit temp of 41C.
56.11 fps.

people talking about it's a "weak" beachmark LOL. you all missed the point. its to test ray tracing and ray tracing alone. takes all the other variables out of the equation as much as possible to get a more specific look at how the ray tracing performance alone compares between cards. for example, both the RTX 2080ti and the RTX 3080 have the same number of RT cores, so you might expect RT performance to be similar, but this test quantifies how much better the 2nd gen Ampere RT cores are compared to the 1st gen Turing RT cores.

Bumped the clocks up a bit, using what the OC scanning tool gave me (+200 mem/ +105 GPU). Managed to eek out a few more FPS. Went from 55.77 to 58.86 average FPS http://www.3dmark.com/dxr/4714 EDIT: No wait, make that 59.22 with slightly higher memory clocks: http://www.3dmark.com/dxr/4861

Had to update Windows 10 to even try the benchmark. Microsoft never pushed the May or the October update to my computer. Anyways, at complete stock I got a neat 54.00fps with the 3090 FTW3 Ultra. I only did one run though. https://www.3dmark.com/dxr/4800

Your Vram overclock is unstable. You should be beating my score since your average clock speed is higher. On mine if I go any higher on vram my score in benchmarks goes down. Try dropping yours and see what happens.
