I was thinking today of my first computer I had. It was a 16k TRS-80 Color Computer 1 Developed by the Tandy Corporation Bought from Radio Shack I was laughing because back then storage was a cassette tape. I would buy magazines every month and start writing the programs that would make things work. I remember sitting at that computer for like 4 days writing and at the end it showed Rudolf the red nose reindeer and it's nose lit up and I would put it on a cassette to save. Then one day my father back then took this computer to a computer repair store and they made it into a Color computer 2. Mind you don't know what the difference was. i still needed that cassette type for storage. I think it was 1980 when I got it I was 10 years old Boy has things changed What was your first computer

My first computer was a Windows 95 Compaq (don't remember the specs) but it came out around 95/96. I got it when my father got himself another Compaq that had Windows 98. That piece of turd was my computer up until 2003 (when I was 13).

Sorry I put this in General Discussions I didn't think it had really anything to do with hardware. I was just a fun question I was asking. Sorry I put where I did. I guess it has to do with hardware

It was a generic 386 SX-16, with 2 meg of ram (take that, Bill Gates!) and a 40 meg hard drive. I think the motherboard was built by Abit and I remember overclocking that sucker by moving jumpers. Before I finally got rid of that case I had upgraded every single component inside it at least twice, and several of them three or four times.

IBM 8086 with monochrome yellow monitor. It had 1/2 MB RAM, no hard drive, two floppy drives, 5-10 MHz and believe or not, it played TMNT on it pretty nicely.

OK so here is my first system from the thread I started earlier which was moved over here,...entitled: "What was the very first rig you built, inherited, hacked, etc.?" Mine was a Compaq Presario, circa 1998 or so I think. I forget the actual model number, but it was sleek and sexy with lurid purple stickers extolling it's many virtues, molded from that ubiquitous beige plastic from the era. LOL I succeeded in upgrading the thing to pert-near 512 MB of PC100 RAM as I recall! It sported a Pentium 3 I think, a floppy drive of course, a CD drive given to me by a friend, an enormous 12 GB hard drive, and an amazing 256 MB video card that I added. Needless to say, I got very tired of the thing after a few months, after which I built my first Pentium 4 rig from the ground up, but it was a valuable training grounds for sure. Just like the first car I learned to drive on in many ways, which was a Volkswagon beetle. So how did you get started?
