What did you fix? I tried to upload the images to your server directly instead but it seems like I can only upload a maximum amount of 500kb.

MSim I don't know if the thermal pads would of prevented it.
Then guess I'm a lucky winner :))

Have you tested the PCI-E slot to see if it still works or not. Another customers 1080 FTW burnt, it caused the PCI-E slot to stop working.

Hi biboxay, I am sorry to see that your product had a failure and I assure you that our Taiwan team will reach out once they are in the office to assist. Thank you for your patience and in the meantime, if you can please confirm that the shipping address on your profile is accurate then this will help us to help expedite this process. http://www.evga.com/community/myProfile.asp I am not sure what caused this failure, but I can assure you that it is highly unlikely that anything else was damaged if the card just had a failure.

I have also had trouble with my 1070 FTW. Although it isn't a burnt card problem, it is the black screen with the fans spinning up to 100% problem. It usually only happens with 1080's, but I have heard of others having the same issue with 1070's. It doesn't seem to be a thermal problem because it happens in low load situations too. I have put in an RMA request, and I received an email saying that it was being reviewed, and that they would get back to me within 1-2 business days. It has been over 3 business days and I still haven't heard from EVGA. I'm starting to loose confidence in their great reputation for customer service. I will give them one more day, then I will have to contact them again myself to make sure that something is even happening. Edit - EVGA contacted me this morning and approved my RMA, so my confidence is restored for now. I hope this goes well, because I do like their products and feel like they have received too much bad publicity lately.

If you were browsing the internet at the time, it's unlikely heat had anything to do with the failure.

Yeah. I prefer my card to go down when I'm gaming max setting with vsync off. And I am still not yet try to run my pc again because there is still smell of burned electronic around. I will let you guys know more later today.

Hi Chris, My current shipping address is pointed toward my friend's house in Hawaii because I wanted to get the thermal pad and the EVGA power link since EVGA won't ship those to Vietnam. Should I go and change it to my current address?

Recenently received EVGA 1070 FTW. Graphic card performs well, but I noticed a tiny GAP between memory chips (VRAM) and thermpal pads (TP), between voltage regulator module (VRM) and thermal pads. Unmounted front plate, and saw the next (picture attached). The stock TPs on VRAM and VRM are 1.5 mm width. But I think, either stock TP are a little bit less than 1.5 mm, or 2 mm thermal pads are needed. Now I installed Arctic TPs, which have 6W/mK thermal conductivity and 1.5 mm width (the "same" width as stock). But unlike stock TPs, Arctic's have contact with VRAM and VRM (but preassure is too little in my opinion). So, I think of installing 2 mm width TP instead of 1.5 mm. Otherwise, heat dissipation will be be not enough. Now I'm using my 1070 FTW with unmounted backplate (because it's not contacting PCB with the help of TP by default and worsens heat dissipation from PCB provided by air). And mounted additional 120 mm fan in the back area of PCB where VRM is located. With Artctic pads applied and additonal fan mounted, I have only 65C PCB temperature under 3D benchmarks (Unigine, 3DMark), which is OK. I'm not using OCCT, Kombuster, Furmark for stress tests and won't use until I receive thermal pads mod kit from EVGA. And I recommend other users of FTW to perform quick inspections of thermal pads applied on your graphics cards before launching heavy stress tests under overclock and within badly ventilated PC cases. So EVGA, consider this fact, pls.

Its not a thermal issue here... you just have one of the bad cards who are on the market... no luck for you, sorry to read that but others, dont believe you are fine because you put pads on your card !

Any idea if those burnt cards are from a single batch and if so, when where they shipped out?

of the billions of capacitors that are shipped, some are going to be bad. If they physically look proper, there will be no way to know which are bad. It isnt just a simple batch, it is a few out of a million type of scenario.

That didnt really answer my question if those burnt cards were manufactured inside a week or so, but thanks anyway. :)
