My 1080 Ti Black Edition LED appears dark and purple (100 brightness). Is this normal?

EVGA says it should be bright white. They are willing to RMA, but I can't afford the cross shipping, nor can I afford waiting weeks for a new card. I could try the cross shipping, but I would like to know if anyone else has the same problem or if it's just me.

    Maybe you should check the plugs (in the card). EVGA allows you to open the gpu. I read on Amazon that one guy had to check his plugs (on his FE) because his LED did not work properly. Or it is up to the bios. Did you check all the connections?

    I personally would not open the thing, not if your thinking on sending it RMA, maybe what to do is skirt round the fan headers and give them a wiggle(Not while the card is powered)    
     
    EDIT: just out of interest have you played with the color settings in XOC to see if it'll go another color?

    There is no color option on a black edition.
     
    Optional. You can check the plugs with something like a screwdriver too.
