Well, this appears to be a running theme, but I think I have caught EVGA with the hand in the cookie jar.  I had a problem with the motherboard randomly rebooting.  So I prepared to send it in for warranty repair/replacement.  I learned my lesson a couple years earlier when I sent in a video card for repair and was told that a broken item (in a provided picture) precluded it from warranty.  Therefore I took a lot of pictures of the motherboard (including all the pins) before sending it in.  I put a socket protector on the CPU socket, put it in the anti-static bag and then in bubble wrap.  I received a notification that there were bent pins.  I sent my pics in showing that they were not bent when sent.

Their reply?  Wait for it.....  We rely on our techs pictures and findings.  Even though you showed that they were not bent before sending, our team says otherwise.  Sounds like the tech made a mistake and then denied the claim.  I even took pics with a recent receipt (for a Strix 270E (irony)) a few days earlier for date corroboration.  They told me to seek recompense from UPS.  I have been a customer of EVGA for over 15 years with over 20 products registered.

You will not need a mathematician to calculate the odds of me purchasing another EVGA product in the future.  I WAS a loyal supporter until this fiasco.

If you provide incentives to this group to reduce claims, you are creating a group of people who write their own checks at the expense of your customer base.  How long do you think this can go on before you lose ALL your customers.  Take a look at the review sites, half the issues you have is with this attitude.

Let me know if you want me to post the pics (Before from me, and After your tech bent the pins).

Unfortunately your pictures do not show for me.

What region are you located in? USA, EU, ASIA, etc?

Hopefully you get some better news soon.

If that mobo was a recent purchase, try contacting credit card company, see if you have any kind of buyer protection plan.

Some people have had success by going public on Reddit or popular hardware forums like overclock.net. After public backlash, evga did the right.

Examples:
EVGA Now Rejecting RMA for SLI or PCI-E Finger / Connector Wear
EVGA Sent me a damaged 1050ti RMA and refuses to replace due to "PCB Damage"

@EVGATECH_JacobB, I was notified that the supervisor denied the request (via the customer service rep I have been dealing with) stating even tho I can show proof that the pins were not bent before hand, they rely solely on the techs findings.  So, in other words, no matter the evidence I can provide to the contrary, my position is secondary to your employees opinion, no matter the evidence.  The funniest part of this whole ordeal is that I purchased an extended warranty on this motherboard.

If USPS, UPS, etc damaged the product in shipping then their insurance (if you purchased it) would cover the damages, you shouldn't expect a company to honor a warranty on damage that voids the warranty.

@JalenJade, I had the CPU cover over the socket.  I do not see how UPS could have damaged the motherboard CPU socket.  They are just trying to push it off on someone else.  The whole "Not My Problem" attitude.  This was similar when I use to work in a mainframe shop.  We would have several vendors supplying computing, storage, OS, etc.  Each would pawn it off on someone else saying "It is not my problem".  The only way you could get anyone to own up to it was to spend days isolating the issue (doing their work for them).  I have been talking a lot of my gamer friends and they have dropped EVGA because of this pattern of refusal and customer service.

I'm still of the opinion that just covering it (or charging a small fee to replace the socket) is much better for public relations and sales than
saying "nope.....too bad for you...bent pins"..

It certainly puts me off buying their motherboards, that's for sure.

The whole "Not My Problem" attitude.  This was similar when I use to work in a mainframe shop.

When the item you admit has damage that is explicitly stated in the warranty is not covered I'm sure it is nothing like any shop you were in.

@JalenJade, I stated I took pictures BEFORE I sent it.  No damaged pins.  Nice, clean, looks good.  They get it, all of a sudden, bent pins.  No, I did not BEND PINS.  The motherboard shipped with pins fine and protected with a cover, in a static wrap with bubble wrap.  They "Find" bent pins.  I have not seen the motherboard I sent EXCEPT the pictures they sent.  I am guessing JalenJade is an EVGA spokesperson.  Read the entire thread before thread crapping.

Would you mind posting the images of your socket that you took before sending the board in?

If they won’t show here, you may have to load them onto a hosting site like Imgur, and then share the links.

Maybe it is needed to take pictures when packaging an item for RMA and included one in the package itself.

Imgur.com is a decent hosting site. Just make sure you open the image in a new tab to get the jpg link.

@Scarlet, that was a reflection.  What was identified did not have that identified.  What they found was on the right and below.  As soon as I can get the images from EVGA, I will show what they  identified.

Thanks for clarifying. Hopefully they can help you out.

Did they show you the condition of the box when it arrived at the EVGA office?

I am on the phone with them now.  They removed the pictures but he promised to send me the pictures.  I asked for a vid showing them opening the box but they do not have that.  They stated that their techs are well trained and have years of experience.  I indicated that I have over 45 years experience in technology (Starting with Dec).  When they arrive, I will post.

I think you selected the wrong socket image for your last picture you posted.  I went to the link you used to share your images, and moved them all to IMGUR, then added them into your post so they are in the same order.

Incorrect photo posted.  Notice the three fuschia circles:  brown capacitors, no lint/dust/reflection in the pins that I pointed out earlier, and no thermal paste beside the socket.

Your original pictures.  There was thermal paste, the piece of lint/dust/reflection was visible, and the capacitors in the top center of the socket are more yellow.

EVGA's picture The dust, capacitors, and thermal paste are consistent through the rest of the images.

You don't have to have an account.

got to imgur.com  Follow these 4 super simple steps.  Do note, if you create an account, you can find your images again in the future much easier.  Box does not and will not provide a .jpg link, so your images will not work if you use box.. you NEED to provide the link if you are going to use box, and do not try to post it as an image.. just simply provide the link.

Click new post in the top left corner of imgur.com

browse and select your picture you want to post.  Be aware that without an account, you will not be able to easily relocate these images without the direct link to them.. that is the benefit of taking the 30 seconds required to log in with your google account.. it is legit like 1 or 2 easy clicks...

Once you load your image, it will show as a picture.. right click this picture and "open image in new tab"

Copy the .jpg link.. the standard imgur.com link WILL NOT WORK.  IT Must be the .jpg link for the picture to show.

EVGA's motherboards are pretty lackluster and overpriced anyway. And their software and firmware is usually quite terrible. The way EVGA has been handling warranties lately is astonishing. Good idea keeping away from EVGA products until something changes.

I for one can't wait for the day Intel moves away from that poorly design socket. It's a lot less likely to happen with AMD mobo/cpu's.

That would be a wise thing to do for any company wanting to keep customers.

Have the customer pay half the mfg cost, not the full retail cost. That would go along ways to keep them as a future customer and help spread good PR for your company.
