Well, am getting old and need something a little bit bigger than this 27" display. System is in my mod rigs. want to keep it around 500-600, I do have two Jeeps to feed "upgrade".
But yeah, looking for something really good at 32-40", Freesync/Gsync or both, 144hz+ 1ms or less, 1440p-4k, has a disigital display port, is HDR still a thing? Hopefully low or no ghosting. Any input would be great.

AOC just released a 42" 144hz 4k display that looks rather impressive.
LG GN950 monitors are top notch.  I have the 27inch.
Samsungs Oddysey series is probably the best curved displays, but don't even breathe heavy on the screen or you'll break it.
ASUS ROG has good monitors too.  This one looks good.

ASUS TUF monitors are good budget options.  Actually there's a lot of good budget options out there, depending on what you're willing to go without.

Or get a LG C1 gaming ready OLED TV.

Well big part is won't go below 144hz, nor above 1ms on response time, freesync/GSync is also a must with DP. Also not a fan of ghosting. HDR would also be nice for once. Have been on lower end displays a long time ago and long use drains the eyes. So do not want to go bigger and it be a downgrade.

Well have narrowed it down to these three. So far, the MSI has struck out with two people I asked.

Yeah been hearing that about the Samsung's, so far I have narrowed it down to the new three and the MSI has two strikes against it from a couple friends.

All 3 of your choices are good.  I'd probably go with the ASUS Tuf at that price.

Well looking at the reviews of the TUF the only thing I did not like is paying almost 500 and there is black smearing behind fast moving objects, the Dell was dark scenes blacksmear, and freesync did not function below 60 FPS. So did more digging and looking found a display not only cheaper than the Dell and the ASUS TUF, Well found my winner, 34" 1440p Ultrawide, 144hz, 1ms, freesync Premium. no usb ports, horrible speakers, and a meh stand. Believe there is some blacksmear but for 438 not going to complain. Really wanted the Dell no freesyc below 60fps yeah... the ASUS TUF is really nice, but not a compromise I am willing to pay when spending about 500 bucks.

I just got a gigabyte fv43u. It’s a bit bigger and more expensive than your range but it is amazing

I am also getting old. For me 32” diag at 2160p is too pixel dense and caused a lot of eye strain. 43” at 2160p is just right. YMMV

The Asus Tuff does look pretty good. I myself am using a Samsung and got a good one that was on sale.

See the price of the 34" Ultrawide 900 bucks ummm big nope. I already got the Acer 34" Ultrawide 1440p 144hz 1ms Freesync Premium Pro for 436 or 438 last year in December.

Best budget ultrawide ones in your budget:
    GIGABYTE M34WQ (flat IPS)
    GIGABYTE G34WQC (curved VA)
XIAOMI MI CURVED 34 (curved VA)
    AOC CU34G2X (curved VA)

Gigabyte (both IPS and VA ones) are marginally better for gaming (IPS one marginally better than the VA one for gaming)
Xiaomi is better color-wise (as well as better in material quality and has a damn sleek minimalist design with no gamer crap)
Xiaomi does not have HDR, as far as i know, which is a GOOD thing. you won't find good HDR in this price range
AOC marginally weaker than the others

I'd personally go with the Xioami for the best all round one in this budget

There are no 4k monitors for your budget unless you find a good deal, but i'll list anyway:
    GIGABYTE M32U

Best budget ultrawide ones in your budget:
    GIGABYTE M34WQ (flat IPS)
    GIGABYTE G34WQC (curved VA)
XIAOMI MI CURVED 34 (curved VA)
    AOC CU34G2X (curved VA)

Gigabyte (both IPS and VA ones) are marginally better for gaming (IPS one marginally better than the VA one for gaming)
Xiaomi is better color-wise (as well as better in material quality and has a damn sleek minimalist design with no gamer crap)

Yeah the Acer 34" Ultrawide 1440p display already won, it wins in price with all the same complaints the other companies displays in the class/price have. I would also avoid gigabyte with their recent shenanigans on capacitors/parts from board to psu's.

didn't notice your last post for some reason. check for some ICM files and see if they go well with your unit in terms of ghosting. i didn't put the acer in my list due to the extreme ghosting many experienced

has none surprisingly, just a little black smear on older games. They have jammed in some tech with this cheaper display to eliminate the ghosting.
