If it happens again to me I’m just going to remove the aio and wait for a waterblock while I use my ftw3 3080.

Would that void the warranty?

not if its an evga waterblock

I meant just the action of removing the AIO, does that void the warranty?

They do not void if you repaste, which means removing the aio. It's actually illegal in the U.S. to have a tamper label and void the whole card UNLESS they can prove removing a component cause the device to fail.

looks that a new batch of KP cards is going to be out soon
instead trying to sell them, better sort out RMAs properly

also something has to be done with quality control, either they don't give a frak and they don't test them, or they simply don't care about the noise, considering rattling or that "fridge sound" something... "normal" in their view

already four weeks since they received my card for RMA, NOTHING happened so far
I lost a lot of progress in my online games
it's so bloody annoying

I wonder if Vince (guy behind kingpin) is aware of these issues. Maybe it should be raised with him considering he is the designer. Evga need to look after existing customers first and foremost and not give refurbished untested/inferior cards as a replacement.

My RTX 3080 FTW3 ultra started to make the same noise as well. I thought it could be due to the new Vbios for the resizable bar.

Re: Kingpin 3090 pump noise 2021/04/08 08:40:57 (permalink)
I have managed to fix the issue by attaching a small magnet on the outside of the GPU next to the pump. This is a temporary magnet, I have ordered a small black one instead so it won't be so visible.

You will have to put the magnet on the perfect spot without disrupting the pump. What I did is pull up a GPU temp monitor application and I started by moving the magnet around the pump until i got the desired sound/performance.

I'm getting 21c on idle at 20c room temperature while gaming around 45c with 95% GPU utilization.

Please see the attached picture showing the magnet location.

What do you think the magnet is doing that is correcting the noise issue?

reducing pump speed
sometimes it works
but having a magnet in your computer long term... don't think is quite kosher and reliable imho
some used this trick and was good one two years even, but happened also that the pump stopped completely after a while

I'm thinking the fan that pushes the liquid inside the AIO is wobbly or touching something and stabilize on the axis at a higher speed which is why I don't hear the noise once the GPU is under load.

Yes I also believe it slightly reduce the pump speed but remember all pumps are prone to fail now or later.

In my case, I have bought the GPU from US and shipped it outside. If I have to RMA the card now, it will take at least 2 weeks and it's not guaranteed that I will receive a perfect one and I might receive refurbished card with other issues or even scratched.

With GPU shortage in the market, I don't want to risk it:(

Don’t risk it if you seen what they sent me for a rma you my never buy for Evga again for their warranty i packaged back up and sent it back they told me that they don’t know how I would of got a card like that even the ln2
bios was missing it was set to normal bios screen looking like some took a razor to it and the rad was ok but still had some dents want a nice clean one they most have no cards for kingpins I have not even seen the queue move at and my card looks like new guess that’s why I was so upset if it looked like what I got I would of been ok with it.

Which it could of been a honest mistake I still have the screen protector on mine because they scratch so easy

If it happens again to me I’m just going to remove the aio and wait for a waterblock while I use my ftw3 3080.

Would that void the warranty?

not if its an evga waterblock

I meant just the action of removing the AIO, does that void the warranty?

I repasted my Kingpin months ago and they honored the warranty for the dead aio pump.

My hybrid kit just started making similar sounds to the videos posted earlier in the thread. It's just a kit for a 3080 ftw3 which means I'll only need a new kit thankfully. I almost confused it for a bad fan at first, but after stopping all of those it was just the pump. It was silent for 3-4 months then this maybe a day or 2 ago.

EVGA received my unit on March 11, nothing happened so far, in Europe things are going slow... phoned up last week and apparently they expect a replacement card and/or AiO only, although I tried to make sure they have already the stuff prepared before sending the card to avoid this
I hope this will sort out soon, hopefully this time will be reliable

Update: RMA unit received is a refurb and not BNIB, but appears in perfect condition. In fact there is no retail box. Just the foam insert.

I love how they demand you package your card appropriately to send to them yet if you use a retail box you don’t get it back.
