I'm sorry but Steve lives in Fantasy Land where he DOESN'T have to pay ANYTHING for cards and can sit back and try to "pretend" that msrp means anything today...He "hates" it only because of its cost and cost is irrelevant in today's market. He can take his holier than thou approach to his review because he isn't in the position to NEED to have one and have no other choice but to pay up (or somehow hit the "Lottery" with getting a card even remotely close to MSRP) Steve's view only makes sense when the world makes sense and to go by his view these things should sit on shelves....but they ABSOLUTELY won't! Why? Because a $699 3080 doesn't exist for 99.9% of buyers and compared to REALITY where its more like $1500 even a $1399 card (that matches cards going for $2500+ today) is a STEAL! Steve gets to see it from his high tower one way but that's not what we the peasants are able to do. Yes if you absolutely can avoid upgrading at anything other than MSRP....don't and if you can wait for MSRP get the 3080 But for everyone else? This is likely one of your best chances to secure a card at a "reasonable" price that actually provides the "top tier" performance you're certainly paying for! The same as Not an Apple Fan. The dude is sitting his ass on a 3080 and he is asking everybody to not buy the 3080 Ti because of the price. Things are pretty different when you don't own a top graphics card already.

Too much money for a graphics card. If this was the last one you'll ever need. Maybe. Paying for a feeling. That's it.
That's your opinion and you're welcome to it but for many of us "enthusiast" level cards have been in this ballpark for years and even this cards direct predecessor cost $1200. Those of us playing in the big boy leagues are certainly looking for a "good deal" too but we have different perspectives than someone like yourself. Last gen "top performance" was $2500 this gen it was brought down to $1500 (with the same 20gb+ memory allocation needed for creators) and now instead of a "top gaming card" thats 15-30% slower in comparison for $1200 we are getting one thats with 5% (and with even a slight bump to total memory compared to our last "flagship") The 3080 is a great card and certainly a "better bang for you buck" but for some of us that's not the goal and Maximum Performance is much more important even if costs are still something we (obviously as seen above) think about.

the problem that's got everyone so upset is the price but lets be real $999 is where it would have been priced if everything were normal
I really don't think it matters all that much to people who are determined to buy something in that price range. If you're willing and able to drop a thousand bucks on a video card for your computer, then you're willing to drop a couple hundred more.

But it is simply not true. Provide data to back up your claim. Find me a single reviewer that got the 3080ti FE beating the 3090 FE in a single instance.
The guy was saying that an AIB card was able to beat the 3090 FE card in certain benchmarks. I've seen the numbers, and it's easy enough to believe. Nobody said a 3080 FE will beat a 3090 FE.

Thing is a lot of review sites have not retested the 3090 after changes were made on a driver level for 3080/3090 issues and other improvements, because the 3090 isn't "technically" a gaming card, this includes GamersNexus. They stated during their 3080 Ti review that if they retested the 3090 it would likely improve a few percent, but that it wasn't worth their time/man hours to do it, because they don't recommend the card, and it's a waste of money, regardless of how it performs (especially with companies like Asus marking their high end 3090s up well in to the $2200+ range now).
The 3080 Ti is the same deal, it's not worth the price, at all - if people could actually buy ANY of them at MSRP whenever they want one, which is not the case of course. This GPU market climate is setting us up for some very bad standards in terms of what NVidia thinks is an acceptable price to put their GPUs at in the future, because right now a lot of people are willing to pay whatever it costs just to get a darn GPU if they can get one, at MSRP in particular.

EVGA is by far the most scalped brand on eBay. I think that is because EVGA sells tons of stock to Amazon

Oh I can guarantee plenty of people here are already looking on ebay to see what to set their price at...everyone here acts like they want it for themselves and gaming but I promise many are going through all this trouble just for profit. Me I've had the chance through the queue to buy 5 3080/3090 since launch and I only bought 1 the rest I let expire on purpose. I wanted every chance I could get to get the card I wanted but I certainly could have been THAT GUY and bought the others as well but I did not. I currently want the 3080ti and am only really looking at getting it because I have a friend who is so desperate to get something 3080 or above he said IF i get the 80ti he will buy my 3080 off me even split. He wants to mine (I dont care about that) so in the end it all works out pretty well.... If I get a card that is....but I'm under no delusion that many of you here with our spam posts are only after the $$$ and could care less about the rest.
