Anybody else curious why this generation doesn't have cooling plates?

If history's correct, it'll likely be released later

oh not a block, I mean the actual cold plate under the heatsink. I felt like it was EVGA's thing. You can see them in teardowns from the last three two generations, but now they're all of sudden gone.

Congrats! Just curious, you wouldn't happen to know roughly when you signed up for the FTW Ultra notification, would you?

Thanks! I think (and hope!) I signed up on the morning of the 17th as well.  Looking at my browser history that is when I browsed to the FTW3 Ultra page for the first time and I believe I did the notification, but its so hard to know for certain.

Different PCB/power design on this one.  We still kept a large copper heatsink for both the GPU and memory, while other necessary components connect to the heatsink directly via thermal pads.  Coupled with all models having 3 fans, you end up with a lot more airflow on the card, as well.

Do you mean the coldplate for the die doesn't also touch the memory modules? I'm confused.

I'm talking about the black aluminum that's left attached to the pcb when removing the heatsink. It's like a back plate for the front of the pcb. I'll try and grab a photo when I have time

Thank you for confirming. Some of the unboxing videos on youtube have an adapter pulled and some don't, so I wasn't sure. Ordered one from Amazon

So any updates an literally anything yet? Or still all quiet on the western front?

Seems like the best place to go for updates is EVGA Jacob's twitter. Despite how frustrating this launch is, at least he's putting out info. Seems like all the other AIBs are near-complete radio silence.

Great!! Thank you... Iā€™ll giveā€™m a follow.

Do the EVGA NV-Link Bridges (100-2W-0030-LR & 100-2W-0029-LR) work with the 3090 cards or do they require new ones?
Edit: Looking at PCB break downs, these are different.

no you will need new nvlink bridges for rtx 30 series cards either nvidia ones or wait for evga and board partners to release the new ones.

Re: Introducing the EVGA GeForce RTX 30 Series with iCX3 Technology! 2020/10/12 08:30:21 (permalink)
It's great to hear that EVGA has an organized queue process based on date stamping for those that signed up for alerts.  While sites like Newegg and B&H Photo also have alerts, I'm not sure how those will work (e.g. could be a mass mailing to all that signed up for alerts, regardless of when the signups happened.)

For those that were lucky enough to get the in-stock alerts from EVGA, how much of a window of time did you have to order your card after the alert was sent?

Is there any idea of when new batches of cards will be available, and what the lag time is related to the alert date stamp?

I'm quite concerned about the availability of 3090 cards, especially the FTW3 models ... doesn't look like there is much stock available overall and not sure when this will improve (NVIDIA has been suggesting it could be into 2021!)

Still waiting to get a shot at a 3090 FTW3 Ultra!

My sign up for auto notify was not until Oct 1 so I do not hold out much hope for a 3090 FTW3 Ultra anytime soon.
But that is the card I will be holding out for.

Doesnt look like there are queues popping for 3090's at all. They literally had less than 1,000 of these on release day id bet and they still havent restocked. Worrisome.
