Perfect, thanks for the input. I always just want something then impulse buy it. I'll hold off for now and see how the launch goes and see some benchmarks etc. Then maybe pull the trigger on the next one out!

You are not alone, being on lockdown and having nothing to do but browse the internet and book video conferences for work, I have ended up with a lot of knick knacks I may not have bought otherwise lol. I now am the owner of a GOXLR even though I don't stream. I just liked the voice changer and the sampler to mess with my friends in discord :)

Yes it will void your warranty. https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/ipnyvt/according_to_nvidia_customer_care_putting_a/
If you're in the U.S. (and potentially Europe, but I don't know their laws) it can only void your warranty if you damage the card in the process (and they can prove it was your modification that damaged it). See: 1975 Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and a 2018 FTC decision that it applies to computer parts. That doesn't mean companies won't lie to you, since there's little risk for them to try and deny it since the consumer would have to complain to their Attourney General and take them to small claims court. They bank on people in general being too ignorant to do that (hence why it wasn't until the FTC itself threatened fines that Sony, Microsoft, and other hardware/device makers stopped putting those illegal "Warranty void if removed" stickers all over the damn place). This would also cover people wanting to paint over the red accents on the ftw3's.

Manufacturers really hate that law and like to pretend it doesn't exist and apparently get away with telling customers they will lose their warranty, even if not true. Even without stickers, most people aren't going to ever take a GPU apart. The excuses they come up with are ridiculously bad.

Yeah, I alluded to that. A lot of companies bank on ignorance, since most people will inherently feel like they did something wrong when they didn't if they're unaware of the law. Not to mention there's little to be done about it unless enough people complain to Attourney Generals and the FTC and go to court. That's a big part of why I prefer EVGA and am a loyal customer. They keep the warranty shenanigans to a minimum.

recipe7 Upon reading more from the Reddit link provided, multiple Nvidia reps said that it actually does not void warranty.
NVIDIA's own warranty doesn't mention it. They only mention "misapplication of service by a party other than an authorized service representative" which would apply to damaging the card by servicing it (note, it doesn't mention _any_ application, only misapplication). NVIDIA WHAT DOES THIS WARRANTY NOT COVER? Any problems that do not relate specifically to a manufacturing defect or hardware product failure, including, but not limited to, problems caused by abuse, misuse, negligence, act of God (such as flood), misapplication of service by a party other than an authorized service representative, software, shipment damages, etc.

EVGA Moderator in this very thread some pages back stated very plainly it would be likely that any modification to the shroud like that was likely to invalidate the warranty interestingly. I'm with you though, quite ridiculous in my view, why do they need the shroud to be totally stock for a replacement if the card died? some sharpie pen isnt going to stop it performing properly...... its not like they're selling that shroud on a brand new card to someone and need it somehow immaculate?!

I see no EVGA 3090 on Newegg?... I guess its too early for the (pre-release/coming soon for the 3090) being that it comes out on the 24th.

Hello Everyone, I'm comparing the XC3 Ultra (1755 mhz) vs the FTW Ultra and wondering how roughly how many FPS more the FTW (1800 mhz) people expect will actually produce, and is it worth it since I just like the look of the XC3 and probably lower price better. My use will be with the HP Reverb G2 (4k 90 hrtz). Thanks,

Does anyone know whether or not only the FTW3 has the iCX sensors? The whole reason I went with the XC2 is the iCX sensors and reference PCB (I already had a water block on hand). I assumed that XC3 meant iCX sensors. Very confusing naming on their part if there are no iCX sensors on anything other than the FTW3 this time around. Not sure if I want to pay up $200 up and over $1500 for a FTW3 variant and then have to wait who knows how long for a water block. Very disappointed. I was looking forward to having the iCX sensors on the XC3.
