Are cables from G3/G2 models interchangeable? A lot of us have custom aftermarket cables (CableMod for example) so this would be good to know.

At least for the current generation, these PSUs look fantastic. However, given these are launched mid-cycle, I am a little concerned about the immediate application of the next generation. Any news on how these will work in the context of Alder Lake motherboards and their push for a new connector? I can’t tell from the picture but it almost looks like it might support both.

I could be wrong but I have a feeling that if Intel does push for the 12VO on Alder Lake then it'll be similar to how the leaks have stated they will handle memory compatibility. Where it's assumed that there will be motherboards that still maintain DDR4 compatibility with Alder Lake, and other more pricy options that support DDR5. So I would think it's possible there will also be motherboards that continue to support the standard 24 pin atx spec as well as motherboards that support the new Intel 12VO spec. Mainly because I think intel would be shooting themselves in the foot if they made all Alder Lake motherboards 12VO from the beginning because it'll just push people with good ATX PSUs toward AMD and their continued performance improvements.

I was considering to buy this one for my next build, but what if Alder Lake comes with 12 volt support on the mainboards? Any plans to publish a ATX12VO version?

Sorry if this question is redundant, but I am upgrading my old 750 Watt G2 to the new 1KW G6. I remember on some old power supplies the cables for 1KW and above were different from the cables used for the lower wattage power supplies, or at least, they were marked as such (Corsair marked their AX1000w cables w/ AX1000 ONLY). Is this true for the G series, or, even though I currently have a G2 750 watt will these same cables from my G2 work on the 1000 Watt G6? I would much rather not have to re-run my ATX 12v 8 pins as that would require removing my loop, and the cables are hidden behind the radiator anyways, so they are out of sight. Thanks!

EVGA make really good power supplies. I have a bad Corsair one that didn't last that long so I switched to EVGA. I should've done that sooner. All three desktops in my house have EVGA psu's in them. Only recently my son upgraded his psu from 650 to 850, still using EVGA.

Just got in my 1000w G6 today and good lord this thing is small. It replaced my 750w G2 and it is at least 15 to 20% smaller than the unit it is replacing. In case anyone is wondering, *yes* the cables from the 750-watt G2 work perfectly fine w/ the 1000w G6, easiest upgrade ever. Still can't believe how compact it is.

that's surprising. most of the 1000w psu's I've seen are huge.

It's pretty stunning man. I mean, I know the 750w G2 is a full 6 or 7 years old now but I was *not* expecting the 1000w G6 to be so compact in comparison. I took this picture to try to give some perspective. The foam pad is what the G6 is secured in within the retail box, so the outer edges of the PSU line up w/ the red rectangle I drew. It's like they managed to make it only as wide as the fan, it's really impressive. Hopefully, it performs well. https://imgur.com/a/DLh6atw
