LOL yeah I'm still sitting here with a 780 Ti... Built a new Ryzen 5600X machine and wanting a 3080/3070/3060 Ti for it. At the rate things are going, I'll have luck when the 4000 series drops.

What's sad is that there is no stock from NVIDIA or AMD.
I got lucky with my 5600X and got picked for the Newegg Shuffle and all of my parts in the machine were at or under MSRP but every time I see EVGA graphics cards on there, I enter, and I've never been picked. Obviously this isn't being helped by the fact that EVGA is the only one pricing them reasonably so literally everyone is trying to jump on them but yeah, its crazy.

EVGA queue seems to be the best way to get anything in the future but you need to sign up quickly

I have to disagree with that. Sales figures have shown record $$ for them.
The problem more lies in the facts that they are selling majority to Crypto Corps & System builders ( which I understand ) but then the rest are being thrown to the wind into retail with almost NO efforts to stop 'scalper-bots' from scooping them up.
I had the same exact thought. I do have an old EVGA 9800Gx2 I am not going to use... I kept to remind me what "buyers remorse" feels like. In all honesty I feel for ya (same boat). Hang in there, at least you are not alone in the GPU struggle.

Unfortunately, your best bet is to set up some discord notifications and keep an eye on drop dates. Best Buy will probably drop this week around noon eastern, it's not easy but I was able to get a 3060 for a friend last time they dropped.

I got my new build finished too, but I put my old 1070 in the new pc. It's definitely still a huge improvement in everything. I feel your pain. I was going to sign up for the queue last year and just spaced on it as life stuff happened.

Understandable. I was watching for drops on discord and frantically trying to buy for a while, but I gave it up. It's not worth the hassle.

I feel everyone's pain... im in desperate need of a new build.... but I put it on hold till I can get a 3080.... a shame cause I've had my odyssey g9 for 7 months... who knew getting a new gpu was gonna be this hard

IF the companies had spent anytime figuring out a preorder system,1-per address preorder, queue ,..etc... anything better... They could have gotten a card into every single gamers hands by now in the past year.
+1, hope it doesn't dissuade too many people away from PC gaming. I bet software companies are losing sales, I don't see a benefit in buying the latest games if I can't run them.

I really hope that eth and other cryptocurrency to work on a new type of proofing. Proof of work is a major effect to not just stocks price but it environmental impact is huge
