Custom loop: Higher quality, higher performance, lower sound, better looks, and fun to install. Expensive.

Aio: Flimsey, not serviceable, not customizable, loud, and runs hotter. Cheap.

If I did go the aio route, it would be EK predator or swiftech h220x.

Do the custom loop with EK full cover waterblocks. I'm just putting mine together now but I know it'll work better than a hybrid AIO.

Also, the custom loop is time consuming and, well, complicated. If you have OCD, it can be frustrating to choose all the individual components and pieces. Also, if you change GPUs every generation like I do, swapping is time intensive with all the draining, refilling, and leak testing. I'll pass.

This is my first loop.. It took me 10 minutes to build the order, 3 days for it to get here, and 3 hours to fill and test it. Also, if you have any common sense, know how to count, and understand gravity vs. water flow, your loop should drain in 4-5 min. If you're clumsy and in a rush, yes you may get distilled water on a component. (which will dry and be fine)

BTW I have adult ADD/ ADHD and I'm fine with it. So if you mean "complicated" I don't even think building a PC or installing a GPU is for you because that is just as "complicated." :D

Most people "pass" because of money problems or fear.

Yes AIO is a simple route but AIO coolers are very cheap. When you get your hands on a hybrid kit you will concur lol. (not just evga..Kraken and corsair are pretty bad as well. I actually like the evga the best!) I decided to go ahead and spend the proper amount of money and get a real cooling system instead of throwing a cheap 1 year warranty AIO on it. When I actually got my hands on a AIO GPU cooler, It was an instant NO for me and I changed all my plans. Maybe I just don't like cheaply made solutions?

I'm sure lots of monkeys didn't understand the wheel and thought it was complicated when it was first seen, but in reality is very simple!

A custom loop will give the the best overall performance, but HYBRID is definitely a lot more convenient to setup, usually quite a bit cheaper too.

I agree 100%. It was my personal choice, made with the lack of experience of having actually built a custom loop. Money was the largest factor.

Same here. I had your setup selected first but went with EK after watching a few videos. My first choice (of cards) would be the 980TI hydrocopper but never was able to find any, so I decided to AIO my Reference 980TIs. In the long run I just really wanted full blocks and a project. Turns out the project was a lot shorter and much less maintenance than I had hoped. Guess that's a good thing!

    Either way its preference.

Maybe one day, and you're probably right about not being as bad as it seems. I just can't justify the time and money to the wife right now (mainly the money lol).
