Hi all,

My Old box was sitting under 15' of water in the Texas flooding from Hurricane Harvey.

At first I was just going to buy some old used machine and be done with it.

I purchased some collage kids machine and while testing things out I noticed a bunch of stuff done wrong and eventually just started building new inside the case i got.

I did not make a build log because, well i just wasn't planning on doing anything worth showing.

The components include:
A Thermaltake 900 case
Asus Strix x370e (mainly cause i already had a water block for it.)
I7 8700k
32gb corsair vengeance 3200
1TB High-Performance NVMe PCIe WD Black primary boot
1TB samsung 840 evo data drive
2080 TI FTW3
1000w EVGA g2 power supply

I have 2 hard tubing water loops. My first time making any form of water loop. go big or go home LOL I had the room.

2 Thermaltake Pacific DIY LCS PR22-D5 300ml 5-Speed Adjustable D5 Pump/Reservoir Combo
2 360 mm rads
12 case fans 6 in 6 out

Using Razer KB and mouse and a Acer predator 34p 3440x1440 100/120hz monitor.

Well... had my first learning experience with water loops.

One of my compression fittings must not have been tight enough. I hear Pop and water hitting the floor. I jumped up pulled the plug real fast and looked to see about 1/4 of my loop on the floor.

I have this monster sitting on top of a dolly cause it big and heavy. I spun the case around and opened the back where the fluid was coming from. I was lucky as hell cause it was the feed from the pump to the rad at the drain valve, the furthest tube away from anything that could fry. nothing but the case got wet.

I have MS, so i don't know if i forgot to crank it down or my hand strength wasn't enough, But its tight now. I sanity checked all my other connectors as well.

Now i need to go to the hospital because i think i had a heart attack when it happened.. .Just kidding.

I had the fitting in the back of my case pop off.. I had one in the front pop off. I forgot fittings completely and just flat out dumped water everywhere (my carpet is stained deep blue in one spot). I had water blocks leak directly onto GPUs due to forgetting to tighten fittings. I had a pinched oring on one connector... found that one because my gpu started artifacting during a competitive game of CS:GO lol!

Leaks are terrifying! They cause panick, fear, and heart attacks.

Thank goodness the leak wasn’t close to the components.

    Your build looks great!

The GPU loop is the one that leaked, the one with the UV green fluid. Thankfully i have hard floors in the computer room.  If was carpet, the UV lights would have lit up the carpet like a Christmas tree.

One morning I came into my office, went to turn on the computer, noticed my res was completely empty.  For no real reason a fitting on the bottom had come loose and all the fluid was waiting for me when I opened the case.  Heat, and the flow pressure can move things over time.  Since then every two or three months I go in there with my hands and make sure they are all snug.  I can't believe nothing actually died in that incident.

    Wow, lucky you.

Can I ask if this was soft or hard tubing, compressions, barbs, etc?  Was it a seal gone bad?  Just curious.

No this was back in the days before hard tubes.  Was a compression fitting.  It was attached to the res and it had "turned" itself loose.  The connection between it and the res had gotten loose.
