During normal times Microcenter is a great place to buy a card. They often have very competitive prices, especially on open box items, and their employees are knowledgeable and professional.
But lining up for hours is a real pain and AIBs other than EVGA have raised MSRP too much.
I'd rather just queue virtually and buy from EVGA.

While I can applaud your approach and appreciate the advice, I cannot help but disagree with the implications of your application. Coincidentally that is also my attitude towards the principle of mining in general :)
However, I find the analysis regarding different retailers approach to the silicon shortage to be quite fascinating. MC definitely appears to be doing something right as it has received raving reviews from various threads.

This is only useful to a small subset of people: people who live near a MC who do not work, or are able to skip work, or are able to work while waiting in the line. A line, which often starts anywhere from the evening before open to some time around midnight. If you fall under that small subset of people and you're able to be first in line that day, it does not guarantee you a card once the store opens. GPU deliveries are random and sometimes there are no cards at all. So if you have unlimited time on your hands, a nice tent or lawn chair, or maybe even someone else you're willing to pay to do the waiting and buying part for you--then sure, you'll eventually get a card at MC.
