I can confirm that this works like a charm on Android version 4.3. Thanks for this write-up!

What method did you use to root the 4.3 ROM? Tried everything in the OP but none worked. Even Chinese websites haven't figured out a way to root the new ROM as the old method for the 4.2 ROM does not work.

Root work for me as well, using the method on the first page. The only problem I had was getting in to a clean fastboot mode but used adb to do that so if you are having problems use adb reboot bootloader and do not use the menu in the boot loader to get into fast boot. then just use the guide.

Tried that also. Only hope is to wait till Skaky156 gets a proper version that can be updated via recovery 'cause my TN7 is now soft-bricked. All I get is an endless boot loop when I turn it on.

I have a feeling windows 8.1 is causing me issues, i had windows 7 when i first rooted 4.2.2 but trying on 4.3 and a new OS im running into issues. Im pretty sure my drivers are installed correctly as i can run commands to my tablet (restart/boot into boatloader) while the tablet is in android, its while i am in boatloader i hit a brick wall. I know my PC recognizes it cause when i plug it in while in boatloader it plays a sound due to me connecting it. But it goes silent, my device no longer gets pulled up when issue "fastboot devices", like my fast boot drivers are not working.

Ok i have updated the OP to reflect the edit i have made, please read all of it and understand what you are about to do before preceding, i just typed a small guide with pictures. If anyone needs help just post on here or pm me, i would be more than happy to help or walk you threw it as i know this can be a scary thing if you have never delt with it. This driver method has worked on my personal note after countless trails and errors. As always this is a "do it at your own risk" and will void warranty.

But the developer did brick his tablet lol. If he gets this running this can open our tablets to many things, as well as backups and potential for new roms.

- Limited Warranty period (parts): 1 year
- Limited Warranty period (labor): 1 year
Is gone off my tablet before I consider doing this. You never know what could happen before warranty is up. Rooting Voids warranty you can end up getting a screen issue, burnt up hardware or worse you never know.
Well. . . I have rooted and flashed dozens of devices hundreds of times. There is very little risk. I just don't see the need for doing it on the Tegra Note. . . Unless there was a Cyanogen Rom for it. . . But I don't see that happening any time soon. . . There really isn't a need. This is as pure Android as it gets. . .

Yes like i said this will be useful for when/if you want to do it, currently there are no ROMs like Cyanogen because why? No way to load them. If you cant load them then why develop them? once this has been able to run custom recovery like TWRP then that will open the floodgates that will allow you to put those things on there. So you are correct, is it worth it now? Nope not at all.....from and end user perspective, but someone has to do it in order to find out how to do it, im just one of the few that will. Remember im not telling you to do it im guiding you if you so choose to do it. Everyone is aware of the risk / warranty problems that can come from doing this. The choice is yours.

I'm definitely worried about irrevocably voiding my warranty, but man do I want root. With the Xposed Framework, you can give your tablet most of the features you'd find in a CM rom. I was rooted with 4.2 and loved being able to use that, and I also miss Greenify to keep apps from just popping up in the bg whenever they feel like it and killing my battery and speed. Once there's a proper recovery, I might consider it, cuz I did save my update file from the 4.3 update, and I'm assuming one would be able to flash that from a recovery to restore their device?

So the root has worked on 4.3 updated TN7s? Also to those worried about rooting, it's fairly safe and I used the Chinese tool. You would have to run into something out of the ordinary to brick it (although it sounds like someone in here already did). I think we are far off from getting custom ROMs for the TN7, but if there is work being done on the Shield then it should be much easier to mod them for the TN7. Getting TWRP to work will only allow it to be done, after that then it has to be developed. I am more interested in getting TWRP for getting a true backup before tweaking.

Ok so in sort Nvidia has updated the way to touchscreen functions (reasons for the pen) So if you are still on 4.2.2 TWRP will work, if you are on 4.3 then you will have to use CWM. Why? the size of the recovery is only 8.3mb MAX and TWRP with touch binary loaded is 9.3. Nvidia would have to release there kernel source to expand the recovery partition. CWM will work fine for now. A new kernel is being developed for the TN7 as well, links will be posted for video guide on how to put CMW on 4.3 and twrp for 4.2.2 users.

I have a ton of great files and info to share with you guys on the Nvidia Tegra Note 7 but this site will not let me post threads yet. can someone please contact a mod and enable these features for me. I have a couple stock roms make along with CWM recovery and a script that unlocks your bootloader and installs cwm recovery along with root and a restore feature and you love to share them with you guys. Thanks RootJunky OUT

I don't know what is going on ever since that small OTA update post 4.3 update. I was rooted before that update, but now it refuses to download the img file and root the device. I am in dev mode with USB Debugging on with it connected as a media device (I also tried as camera). I have tried it with the normal Fastboot Files and the program, neither works. With the files it just says "waiting for device" and never does anything. If I put the .img file in the directory of the program then the below events occur. I have tried turning debugging on and off and re-downloading Fastboot files and the image itself. Nothing is working and I can't root my device even though I am unlocked, as the boot loader tells me in red (and right above it). I think I am going to try relocking and the unlocking it again, that is about the only thing I haven't tried. I don't see why this small OTA incremental update is causing me such a pain...

What? That's bad. NVIDIA fixes rooted Shields in some cases, so why the rooted Tegra Notes can't be fixed?

Thats how most manufactures operate. Easy for them to blame any defects on unauthorized firmware modifications.

My son has this tegra note which he dropped and it is stuck on the the "TEGRA NOTE" boot screen i can get the bootloader up and have tried factory reset and side loading a update with sd card but non of these have made any difference. I have watched all the un bricking vids and help files and tried everything i can but nothing works as the usb debugging was never enabled, is there any way i can re-install the complete OS without this enabled ?
