Pgcmoore
also, overvolting the gpu is not the answer, unless your going extreme (LN2 or DICE)
and you can only unlock voltage limits on the 980Ti (not recommended and dont help anyway on air-water) on the Classified or soon to be KPE edition. ( or similar cards from other manufacturers. )

someone correct me if I am wrong

Generally true sure.. although I ran 3rd party bios on my 780 ti Classifieds with voltages increased far beyond what Precision offers and never had heat issues. I did address the thermal pads, sink surfaces, paste and OV'd my fans for higher RPM's to handle the extra heat.

Re: GTX 980 TI BIOS/VOLTAGE HACK 2015/07/06 11:12:53 (permalink)
Not really sure about these 980 Ti`s..

I`m already running reference 980s at 1574mhz/8ghz in SLI - gives 23500 in Firestrike.

I can easily push one of my cards beyond 1600, but the other card with lower ASIC can`t take it..:(

Not convinced the 980 Tis are worth it unless you can perpetrate some serious cooling. That means at least chilled water cooling with a serious aquarium cooler- at the very least.
With air and ambient water cooling, these cards don`t seem to deliver.

Waiting for pascal seems the better option.

Though to the OP i have to say- messing with the BIOS and finding out what all the sliders mean, maxing your cards OC potential, is SERIOUS FUN! You`ll crash your PC a million times, but it`s great seeing those firestrike results go upwards..:)

Wish you good luck..:)

Hey there thx for making this thread I was wondering the same question about flashing my card.

About the 980Ti-SC-425-1281mv vbios. It mentioned that the power limit can go up to 425watts. If I'm in running 3 way sli 980ti hydro this mean that my cards alone could potentially draw 1275w. This leave only 225w for the rest of my system.

My question is my 1500axi corsair power supply gonna be able to handle it ? My cpu is also overclocked. It can draw like 300w under load so i'm a bit over 1500w total I think.

It seems to be working fine. I beat my last record in firestrike ultra. I made it to rank 15 in firestrike ultra x3 cards. I'm the only 980ti in the top 20 ? Lol... titan x

That's not such a big improvement from my last stock bios overclock.

I was oc'ing it at 1480mhz and now with the custom bios I can crank it up to 1502mhz.

Re: GTX 980 TI BIOS/VOLTAGE HACK 2015/08/08 11:04:05 (permalink)
I had to lower my oc to 1470mhz because valley and heaven keep crashing above that. That's really disappointing, I practically achieved nothing better than stock bios with higher voltage and power limit.

My best oc on stock bios
1440mhz for gaming
1480mhz for benching

Custom bios
1470mh for gaming
1510 for benching

I really wanted to reach 1500mhz stable for every day use :(

Re: GTX 980 TI BIOS/VOLTAGE HACK 2015/09/15 11:02:32 (permalink)
Ok guys we got a problem. So the 980 ti seems to downclock from 1450 MHz to 1251 when it reaches 64c, I have monitored it and it seems like it happens exactly when it hits that temp. What gives? I want the card to stay at 1450 not downclock what so ever, I would use K-Boost, but I want to see my gpu usage.... I have prefer maximum performance enabled in the driver also. So I was wondering if you guys could shed light into this for me.

p.s. I have precision x 4.2.1 and the temp and power target maxed. 120% and 90c for temp target. (None are hitting their max thresholds)

Sounds like you may need to disable the boost. http://www.overclock.net/...ble-clocks-for-maxwell

I am very scared of doing this with Maxwell Bios editor and was wondering if you can you can do one for me. I want this bios to stay the way it is, but without any boost. I would greatly appreciate it :(

Here you go. Only thing you should have to adjust is fan speed. Make sure max performance is enabled inside the driver too.

Going to try it out brb

ok so I loaded it and I want to make sure that the card is doing what it is supposed to be doing. As you can see in the screen shot it shows the card still down clocking and yes max performance is set in the driver

Any ideas why it isn't keeping the clock I am giving it o.O

Also Sajin do you play any steam games?  cuz I got a surprise for you lol

How are you forcing max performance? On the individual game profile or are you forcing it on the gloabl settings tab? Yes, I do play some steam games.

From the screenshot you posted it looks like it's holding 1465/1453 inside the game.

Inside the game? Not sure what you mean ?

It happens when ever I load into a game, it will start at a higher clock speed then trickle down a little. Thus making it hard for me to find out what is my max over clock

What application are you running to stress the gpu when testing?

Unigine Heaven 4.0 driver 355.82 (p.s. driver sucks because it does not work with Gsync correctly)

The clocks are downclocking still and I am not sure if this is normal or not. I started out at 1468 and now I am all the way down at 1404. Will be posting a video link soon. It just seems to downclock with games also after a certain amount of time.

Long stort short, I was trying to stay at 1450, but when I start up windows it starts the card at 1468 then trickles down to 1450 then it keeps just trickling down and now it is 1404

edit* I know 1468 is unstable with this card and 1450 is it's max, but when I start windows it starts at 1468 and then when I run it with games or benchmarks it trickles down in speed and now has stopped at 1404. Just trying to stay at 1450 MHz  also I did not change any speeds it did it on it's own, is this a gpu boost 2.0 thing??? I miss 500 series days of overclocking

Try this one.

I love this bios but I black screen on boot up of windows. I have precision x to start up with windows. As soon as it loads it black screens from applying a profile or anything in precision x. Even if I just manually launch it, then it still black screens. I love the control that I have with the bios though! I got it to work when I flashed it, but now it is kinda wonky. You think you can fix this ?

This one should work perfectly.

NOTE: All you should have to do is adjust the fan speed on this one. You can max the temp & power target if you want.

This one causes crashing when benching, it trys to go to 1600 MHz when I add 250 offset o.O other than that the boot up black screen is gone and is stable on boot up and idle. Sooooo close to it being perfect

Well even at 0 offset it was being unstable, I guess if It can be at 1430 MHz core then that should be stable at that speed, also with the bios that you are giving me can I adjust the memory speed? I haven't got to play with that yet, I see that you have the core locked at a speed that I cannot even increase which is awesome . I Was just wondering if you can lower it a little bit on the core to 1430 and hopefully it will be stable.

I flashed the 1430 rom and It boosts.... on its own to 1455.. I have 0 for core clock and 0 for memory just to make sure it isn't me doing this.
